All I can think of would be blended hairs, usually badger/boar, but considering you don't hear those brushes talked about that much I doubt many people would be voting for them as their favorite hair.
I think synthetic will win this easily.

The results are fairly split so far. A typical B&B response. Get one of each!
Favorite is boar. Effortless, easy to use and maintenance will always be synthetic. Not sure where this leaves badger...
I enjoy my synthetics, but a good badger is #1 in my den.
Badger, Boar, & not forgetting Horse those are my choice, as I don't think synthetics will be around in 20 years time. As I can tell you why I have a nail brush with nylon bristles, and in 5 years that I have had it with it being subject to hot and cold the bristles have gone hard and brittle. So will this happen to our synthetics brushes I could be wrong?.....

I've used badger and synthetic and between the two prefer synthetic, mainly due to the inhumane treatment of badgers in China. I've got an inexpensive Omega boar on the way just out of curiosity.

As far as shaving brush material goes, I like resins and resin stabilized wood. If you meant the knot, then I am a badger guy...

Walrus whisker brushes are my favorite but bloody hard to find and, if you do find, they cost a fortune now.

Large 2-Band badger is my preference; scrubby to gel-tipped ones. It doesn't matter.
