I'm am looking to have some fun with my blade selection tonight. I would love to see what blade you guys would pick for me. The razor for this evening will be either Yates Merica or Yates Winning.
FYI - the first 5 blades are my go to favorites so far but it doesn't matter what you pick!
Thanks for having some fun!

I'd go with the Perma-Sharp

Mainly because I just got 100 and am really enjoying them.
One out of the first seven did have a bum side, kind of peculiar.

edit…I didn’t know how to view the results - I’m a Newb what do you expect but I’ll save this for tomorrow night then and see what happens. So definitely using the poll for tomorrows shave! Thanks guys. I ended up using a PIF Gillette 7 O’clock yellow with the Yates Merica and pulled off a DFS++ Very happy with the shave. Used Tabac pre-shave, shave soap, and aftershave balm. With the usual alum & witch hazel prior to the balm.
I may have learned something and Nemo alluded to it “a bum side”. My first pass felt like it was pulling a bit so for my 2nd pass I flipped the blade over and it was smoother. Not sure if it’s because I shaved down some stubble already, which is likely, or if the other side was just a bit better. I never really thought the sides of the blade could matter at all.
Have a great evening folks!

I have a tie for Nacet and Platinum so tonight I will use the Platinum. Haven’t used that one in a bit and the Nacet I’ve used the most. Thank you all for your votes, that was fun.
Now what razor do I pair it with…haha I won’t do another poll but I could do Rockwell, Blackbird, Yates, Henson, or Timeless .68 Ti.

So I tried the Bic a couple times and it’s super sharp! I hacked myself up worse than with the feather. Now I still have the Bic and the Feathers but haven’t built up enough courage to retry to Bic. I did retry the Feather the other day and had some really good results. I will try the Bic again in time. Not sure if it’s the coating or maybe just my technique but the Bic and Feather blades really gave me a lot of irritation on the neck. I found with the Feather I was using absolutely no pressure and it was better.

For tonight I ended you going with this setup below and it was great! 👍

Razor: Karve Bison
Blade: Gillette Platinum, 1st use
Brush: Captains Choice
Bowl: Captains Choice Copper Bowl
Preshave: W.M. Neumann Bay Rum Oil
Soap: W.M. Neumann Bay Rum Cream
Aftershave: RazoRock Son Of Zeus Aftershave
Balm: W.M. Neumann Bay Rum Balm
Additional Care: Shave Nation Alum
Additional Care: Thayers Original Witch Hazel Aloe Vera
Scent Oil: Neutrogena HydroBoost Water Gel

Great shave this evening. Went with the Gillette Platinum blade that was voted on the B&B forum (tied with Nacet but I haven’t used the Platinum in a bit). Ended up pulling out the Karve Bison for this one and man was it good. I did a 2 pass shave (WTG & ATG) with a couple little touch ups and it’s equivalent to a DFS++ for me. No irritation, redness, weepers, or nicks. Used W.M. Neumann Bay Rum products for pre-shave, shave cream, and post-shave balm. Used alum and some witch hazel with no stinging. Finished my face and neck off with some Neutrogena HydroBoost cream. 5/5 no complaints here just a lovely shave to end the day.

And no Derby.
Where's the Astra?
:07:
I don’t believe I have any derby. Many are from a PIF I got. There might some stragglers I’m missing out on. I did have an Astra that I used already and it was middle of the road for me. Oh and I have a Treet and Voshod still to trial. I just put together the first 10 I looked through. I believe the poll is limited to 10 different selections. 👍

How many shaves did you give the BIC? The first is always the worst. They are one that smooths out after a few shaves. I can get 6 or 7 shaves from a BIC Chrome vs 2-3 with most other blades.

Okay that’s fair. I only used it twice but still have that one and can try it out again. Any suggestions? I’ll try to treat it like a Feather maybe go slow and zero pressure maybe and not ATG . Thanks!

I'd try a fresh blade just in case that one you used was a dud, then give it 4 shaves or so.
