Vintage Yardley Find!

Hey guys, incredible luck at an antiques store today. Got a wooden bowl of vintage Yardley for $16 :biggrin1:. Doesn't look to be used, even has the wax paper inside, but I've never seen this label before. There's no markings for US import and it also says "By Appointment" on the label and on the soap inside, although it's hard to see. The bottom has Yardley London in a very faint impression. I've heard this is about as good as soap gets, I think I'm gonna just keep it and use it, being that I probably won't find it again. Here's some pictures!

that's the first yardley i've seen with that label. another interesting thing to note is all the yardley's I have say "yardley" on the label and not "yardley's" I wonder if there are any differences.

very cool

Sorry to be the one to tell you this but that is a cheap knock-off. I happen to have a collection of them - just an idiosyncratic hobby of mine. I have imitation GFT "tallow" and imitation Pen's English Fern "tallow 1st" (it's usually Crisco). I know this is going to really bum you out so I'd like to offer you your money back if you want to ship it to me for my collection. I already have one but I'll do it for you. I know - it's selfless - but I'm always willing to help out a fellow B & B'er.

I just about had an aneurysm haha, thanks! Found this link to an old B&B thread with the same, or similar, label as this soap, it appears it may be very old. Now I think maybe I shouldn't use it :001_unsur. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/151731-vintage-Yardley-experts-a-question

Use it. It was made to be enjoyed. It's already sat for scores of years untouched, collecting dust. Use the soap, keep the bowl/label for posterity.

You scored a real old timer,a rare find !...It should be good if there is no mal odor. You may want to float a layer of water on top for a day or 2 to rehydrate it.I floated a layer of lavender oil on mine, worked very well, and brought the scent back to life.
