Once I get it all cleaned up and it's issues sorted out , I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a pass around . Details to be worked out later if there's any interest.
It may take a while to get here as it's coming from England . Then I'm sure the blades will need honing at the very least...

Has anyone ever seen or used one of these ?

If you get the blades all honed up and still want to try to get a pass around going I would be interested. Im pretty much willing / interested in trying any razor out there.

I would be very pleased to try out your razor, I can hone it if you like.

This is a very generous offer! thank you.

Ahh, the tide has turned !!! AWESOME !!
You two Gentlemen will be the the 1st to give it a go ! as soon as I get it .....

Looks very interesting! While you are waiting for it I can highly recommend trying out your GEM. I was blown away by how different the single edge razors are from DE. I quickly bought a few different models on eBay once I tried my first.

You may be able to use a regular SE Gemblade in that, without removing the spine. The deciding facor being whether the blade-stops wil catc the Gem. These are highly under-rated classics, being adjustable for blade angle and exposure, they deliver a fantastic shave wit either a poperly honed OEM wedge or a Gem SE.

When you receive it, be sure to check: it appears that the blade clamp (that lever sticking up in the middle-back of the head) is bent upward,it may need to comedown a touch. If so, doth is gently, and watch to be sure that the exposure screw (at the back) continues to move freely, as it moves the assembly of the guard.

Wow... what a great pass-around! I have been wanting one of those for a long time, even though I am a hard core straight shaver. Unfortunately I am in the Persian Gulf and wont be going home for several months. I would like to get in on it when I get home, though.

count me in!!!! have a Gem that I simply love - and an Valet Autostrop (which came with 2 original NOS blades but I am saving those) - but I just got some feathers for it today in fact - alas won't be trying it for a few more days. in Straight mode and comparing various honing techniaues currently

but that's a wicked looking razor and I'm def down for trying it!! if it takes a feather SE spineless blade and you need a package let me know too.

Hey Guys , just got it today !
It seems as if we have 5 or so people interested in a pass-around so I guess we'll stop there ??? What's normal for a Pass-around?
I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.. it almost looks like a Medieval torture device..
I should have a chance this weekend to look it over and after that I'll send it on to Jim for honing and then we'll start choppin' hair.

Slash McCoy , you are in , Thank you for your Service , Sir. I'll put you last and if you're not back by then , well then I'll send it to the Sandbox . And please get your Active Duty Tag !!
Tenative List, no particular order...yet.... But Jim will be 1st as he offered to do the honing. Thank you Jim !!

Oh yeah... I have no idea how this thing works....

If you haven't figured it ot yet...:biggrin1:

  • Loosening the handle screw allows you to change the head angle.
  • The screw at the back of the head moves the guard in (more blade exposure) and out (less blade).
  • The little tab sticking down at the front, below the guard, is pushed to the rear(moving the blade retaining bar back) to load the blade. While pushing back, place the blade in the head, with the corners of the edge resting in the blade stops, on either corner of the head. Gently release pressure on the tab, and the retainng clamp should rest on the blade spine.
  • Its Rhodium plated, and responds well to metal polish, tho' would use toothpaste on the darkened handle

Thanks, Wm T! But I am not in the military. I am on a container ship on a Persian Gulf shuttle run. We just carry containers from Jebel Ali to Shuwaykh and Shuaibah and back, because the biggest ships can't get in to Shuwaykh. It's like a feeder run. And I have no secure and dependable mail address. I would hate to see that nice Wilkie get disappeared. I will give you a shout when I get back to the States.

Normal for a pass around? I guess when people stop responding and asking to be put on the list! Or when you want to play with your toy yourself after letting all the badger-dudes get their kicks. Anyway, that is very generous of you to share. Those were definitely the high point of safety razor technology, and I wish there were more of them around.
