Vintage Watch Repair

I love vintage watches and have a thing for them. I recently purchased an Orient King Diver, pictured below.

The watch looks great, keeps good time, but is no longer water resistant. I made the mistake of washing it once and fogged up the next morning. I have since gotten it cleaned and serviced by a reputable shop in Montreal. However, I was told that given its age, seals for this make are no longer available. The watch maker had the watch for several months and said he tried but was unable to find the appropriate seals to make the watch water resistant.

I would appreciate any advice or any recommendation as to where I could get this watch serviced and thus make it water resistant. Has anybody been in a similar predicament because the watch looks great, but I do not enjoy wearing it knowing that I cannot get it wet.

Comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sam

I usually assume that no vintage watch is water resistant, not even a diver.

Isn't there a watch maker in your neighbourhood who participates in the Watch Spareparts Exchange Program?
