Vintage Simpson KH2 Butterscotch handle

I received my great grandfathers Simpson KH2 shortly before christmas and the knot looked like it was on its last legs but today i wanted to see if it would still do the job. so i quickly wet the brush and almost the whole knot came out. This leads me to my next question, does anyone know if the current kh2 knot is the same as a vintage one? Any help would be great, now for a few pictures... $20130107_135024.jpg$20130107_134801.jpg

i prefer 26mm Tgn finest 2 band with my kh3 and i like it so much..

Fantastic restore. Was that a dent in the "before" pics, that you had to sand out? Looks like a mean one. I guess you had to sacrifice a bit of the
Simpsons script in the sanding and polishing stage. Worth it though, considering the result.

lol :lol::lol::lol:

Great spikey brush. Thanks for the pic!

Seriously. An option is to send it to Mark at Simpson and have them reknot it.

Maxp, that could be a cool idea to have simpson reknot it. Do you have marks contact information?

Seriously, you wouldn't believe what a lather hog this spikey brush is :lol:

And yes I regret selling that KH3 to you melyus. But I have a couple more to take its place now.

Here's my KH2 with a TGN 20mm grade a silver tip. That one should clean up very nice and it makes it that much better that it was your grand fathers.

I use a low speed buffer and Flitz mainly. But you have to be very careful with a buffer, you can easily mess up that pretty color. Try Flitz or Maas both work very well. Also Mothers plastic polish.

I'll have to try and find that, not sure how easy it is to find in Germany but maybe i can find a good alternative.

I had two brushes re-knotted by Simpson just before Christmas, you can see pics here. Great result and Mark was great to work with - I'd highly recommend them for a great job on the re-knotting

You should be able to order a tube of any of the above of eBay for pretty cheap. Restoring it is not hard, and to me it would mean more if I restored my grand fathers brush myself.
