Vintage Rooney brush set

I'm new here and I hope this is the right place for this.

I recently picked up this rooney shaving set at an antique market. Would anyone know a thing about it. The brush was unused and is marked as pewter , along with to bowl. The brush itself is very nice to use but I cannot figure out how to use the bowl.

What a fantastic set! A mug such as that could be used a couple of ways. Plop a puck in the bottom and load it from the mug. Alternatively, you could use the mug like a scuttle, soaking the brush, then after dumping the water, loading the brush from an extra source, finally building the lather in the mug, palm or even face.
Great find nonetheless.

You have two choices for the bowl: either use it to build your lather in the bowl (check out the Wiki), or use the bowl to store a soap puck and load your brush before building lather on your face.

Thanks. When I started looking at the different mug designs I wanted to better understand the design intentions. Why not go to the source instead of someone else's "best guess"?
