Vintage Shaving Brushes

Prices all Shipped in US, Paypal G&S payment only.

Top left: Second Hand bought Simpson Chubby 2 Best (Somerset era I think, faded lamp black, etc). Definitely less dense, loftier, and in my opinion lower grade hair than a modern (or old vintage) Simpson Chubby Best. Still a beautiful brush, but not a great example of a Chubby in my opinion. $90

Suspect Rooney "#3". Very good condition (maybe NOS?). Nice, very curvaceous handle. Soft hair, but not ultra-dense. $60

Vintage Hoffritz 102 (Simpson Chubby 2). Reknotted with a UHD gel-tip. Knot is crazy dense and a really great replacement (quite similar to a well used vintage 2 band chubby knot), but I'm not in love with the gel tips (I like scrub). I have $75 in the handle and ~$50 in the knot if memory serves. $105

Plisson, good size, I bought it on BST as a 10 iirc, but I think it's actually a 12. I paid ~$85 shipped. I keep trying Plisson's and keep realizing I want a scrubbier, denser knot and no amount of quality makes up for that in my eyes. $70

Simpson Polo 10 Best. Another one I think is Somerset due to the faded lamp black. Nice dense brush. Has clearly seen some use, but still good condition. I just prefer Chubbies, also ~$85 shipped from BST. $80

Rooney Heritage (Stubby 1 I think?) Another used purchase. One of the densest brushes I've ever owned. Also very soft. Bought it and a Sz 2 at the same time and prefer the Sz 2. Definitely a wall of badger. Has seen a lot of use (split tips etc), but seems well cared for, no donutting or other damage I can tell. $100

Second row: misc Butterscotch and 1 vintage Plisson. All original knots except the rightmost one (that's a 20mm replacement knot that IS NOT SET, but is included).

$25 each, $20 for the second, $15 for third and each one after that. Take them all for $100.

Bonus super secret Razor Hone Listings: ( Just bought a new PDSO and need to clear room &or funds)

Also priced shipped in US:

In first picture:

Top: Black/dark Tam O. Almost 9" Long. Tams over 8" are quite rare. This one is interesting, I've had a few really good shaves off it and a few mediocre shaves. I like tams for knives and this is definitely no slouch there. $150

Second from Top: I think this is a Water of Ayr, but consider it a mystery stone. $75

(left to right on bottom row)
Left: I think this is a Hindostan with very thin bands. $30

2nd from left: Pattern says Tam O shanter, finish is definitely shavable. Thought it was a Pierre Du for awhile based on color and swirls in the pattern and a few good shaves, but I think it's a weird Green Tam now. Definitely another Mystery stone $35

Big pestle mounted Pierre Du Sud Ouest (camo pattern). Nice soft PDSO. I glued it onto a wooden pestle as a base. $65

Really Nice hard yellow PDSO. $50

Another Hard Yellow PDSO $40

VERY old hard green PDSO in ancient handmade leather sheath $40

Messygoon

Abandoned By Gypsies.
Wonderful collection! At only $100, the bottom row is a dream for anyone wanting to restore brushes, or simply use as is. Someone please pull the trigger before I succumb.

@Demaratus, assuming it was you getting the bottom row, very nice buy! All these brushes were clearly collected over time by a gentleman with a discerning eye.

Yeah it was me. I agree, I’ve been wanting some butterscotch brushes and this was a convenient way to get rolling on that:)

Rest still available. Take all the stones except the 9" tam for $200 shipped in the US.
