Viking Sword Blades -Review-

I picked up a couple of Viking Sword blades through the great blade exchange. I must say I really liked them. The blade I tried was very sharp and provided a reasonably smooth shave on the first pass. After 3 passes (WTG,XTG,ATG) the result was BBS. As a frame of reference, compared to the blade I used before it (Gillette Goal) the Viking was very sharp. After using the Viking I put in a 7 'o clock super platinum. I think they are very close in performance. The Viking might be a tad bit sharper.

The blade lasted the whole week which is my norm for good quality blades. I can't speak to price as it only cost me the price of a stamp to try it.

The bottom line....I am looking forward to using the one remaining Viking blade I have and will be shopping around to try and find them here in the states.

No, I haven't. Are there any that you would recommend? I'm still fairly new but I'm starting to get an idea of what works well for me.

I think the only other brand to come out of Israel are the Red Israeli Personna blades.
And they are made in the same factory as the bade you tried.

It's 1:51 AM here, and just got the best shave in my almost 2 years of DE shaving with these blades + tabac + 34HD. Best shave ever. Compared to my last winner, the Sharks SS, these are one whole level up. Let's see if can last 6 shaves as my trusty Shark SS!

I just bought 120 of them. Will try them soon. They look cool though. If I'll like them, I will buy some more.

you can find them on ebay, i think

I just used one for 4.5 shaves. Halfway through this mornings shave I switched due to roughness. I usually switch after 3 days so it lasted longer than expected. Smooth and sharp.

There's a guy on ebay selling a bunch of Israeli blades I've never heard of - he's got the Vikings, but also something called Q-ball (which look a bit like Crystals or Israeli Blues to me), Edison, Royal and at least one more (I'm too lazy to look it up but I think it was TOMY). Never heard of most of those. I wonder if they're all the same blade under different brand names. I often think that the many different brands coming out of the St. Pete plant are really a far fewer number of truly different blades. Maybe that's what's going on with all these Israeli blades.

As I experimented with blades, the Viking’s Sword moved to the top tier for me, just barely below the Personna Med Prep and Gillette Silver Blue. They are an Israeli Personna Super Stainless blade. You can get 100 for $16.20 shipped or 20 for $5.90 shipped. I just finished 5 excellent shaves with one in my Slim set on “6”. All 5 shaves were smooth, close, and nick free. I used a soap, a croap, 2 creams, and a stick. As always, YMMV.

That seller is Liorfe.

I have purchased from him and he is reliable.

He sells a sampler of different Israeli blades mostly with different coatings, so they are not identical.

Follow up:

I just finished my 6th shave with an Israeli Personna Viking’s Sword with my Gillette Slim set on “8” this time. All 6 shaves have been very close, smooth, and nick free. The VS blades can go the distance.

To bump an old thread, I just purchased a tuck of the Vikings sword, they arrived today. Loaded one straight into the Muhle Rocca R94 and what a fantastic shave on a 2 day growth. Super smooth, feel sharp enough for me with no tugging or pulling. I'm very impressed with these. They are definitely going into my personal top tier alongside the Wizamet SI, GSB and Gillette Platinums.
