Viking Chieftain revisited

When I bought my Karve sb C plate about 5 weeks ago my Viking was moved to its hiding place under the sink. I had bought it when I first started wet shaving about 3 months ago.

I decided today to give it another go, just to see if my perception of the superiority of the Karve was still accurate.

The Viking still had a one use shark blade, so I didn’t put a fresh blade. I used Proraso green and went at it

With one days growth (I often go two days) there was plenty of blade feel and audible feedback. With a 2pass shave, the results were decent but nowhere near what I have come to expect with the Karve. A good deal of buffing was required for my chin. To be fair, the shark blade isn’t a particularly good blade in my opinion and a better blade may have given ether results.

The Viking will take up permanent residence in my travel kit and the Karve will continue to be my sole daily razor. Two and a half times the price for the Karve but worth every cent
