Very strange request for help!

Hi guys, I’m in the UK and own a 2005 Mustang GT. Fairly obviously it often proves difficult to get parts. Do any of you guys in the States know of any salvage yards who specialise in Mustangs? Or even better any of you guys mod and play with these cars yourself? I would like a few bits for my car, not wheels and other big stuff just a few replacements for things that have broken over the years and other OEM stock parts, the golden ticket is the chrome pony pack grille insert.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Not around here. There is a little salvage in town that does have several '80s models Camaros, but not familiar with anyplace that does 2005 Mustang GT.

Have you tried eBay for the parts you’re looking for? I’m assuming that you’re looking for used parts...I would also lurk on some of the mustang forums that have a buy-sell-trade section.

It's tough getting parts for older cars sometimes depending on the model and how many were produced along with how many other models shared the same components.

As an example my current car is a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. Trying to get a new fuel filler pipe the last two years under $400 has been onerous. Recently I got one that an aftermarket company has just started to offer new for around $60.

This version of the Fleetwood was only offered for four years. And though it shared many components with other GM cars of the time some of them are unique to the car. Try getting an AC blower for it - the original equipment isn't made anymore and ALL aftermarket blower motors are inadequate. You have to get an old part from the original equipment or from a junk yard. When the junk yards run dry you'll have to mod something aftermarket with the old equipment to get a satisfactory air circulation in the car (or the cabin will never cool down sufficiently to be comfortable, been there done that).

My very first car was a 1970 Cadillac Sedan de Ville and the parts for it seem ubiquitous. This is, I believe, because every car GM produced in the late 1960's and through the 1970's shared many of the same components. So there seems to be a ton of them around.

I don't know how limited your car is but just wanted to share that sometime owning an older car can be a challenge to keep road worthy.

Hi guys cheers for the responses so far, so I’m a member of the MOCGB Mustang Owners Club Great Britain, there’s nothing on the BST there, another group called Simply Mustangs UK have nothing, there’s nothing on eBay uk, the websites listed in post 2 are all actually American sites, CJ Pony and American Muscle are great but once taxed and shipping have been added the parts end up costing a fortune, some sites such as CJ come up in uk google searches because they deliver here. So what we do is we want big stuff such as wheels, hoods, exhaust systems etc is buy them from CJ or AM and have them delivered to a british guy in the States who ships a container once a month, this way delivery is WAY cheaper and more often that not there’s no tax to pay.

But some of the parts I want are really small and specific such as a trunk release handle which costs $35 plus shipping new so a crappy bit of plastic will end up costing me $60 delivered.

Another item I was is pictured below, a company made them not long after the 05 was released and got sued by ford for copyright so they’re as rare as hens teeth. If I can get hold of one that would be amazing, failing that I could adapt a V6 Pony Pack grille and fit it to mine, again finding a pony pack grille here isn’t easy, I did it years ago, around 2015 and it cost me about $650 delivered because I went new as I couldn’t find used.

I have exhausted all the regular routes so was trying to think outside the box and going salvage over the pond. Hopefully there will be a trade deal soon so I can save some £££!

When I had my Pontiac G8 (Vauxhall VXR8 in GB) I was on the G8 forums a lot. Since the car is really just a Holden Commodore from AUS, people often had to find certain parts from there. Luckily for USA G8 owners there was a guy on both of the big G8 forums who could get parts and ship them. He must have worked at a dealership or possibly for GM. The items weren't super inexpensive but they didn't break the bank either. I'm ignorant of the intricacies of shipping parts worldwide and it's unknown if he did everything like a real commercial operation might have.

Were I you, I'd get active on whichever is the main US Mustang forum and find that same guy who can just send parts personally.

I love the VXR8, great car, o also loved the Monaro that preceded it, great engines which will last forever. I’ve been to Australia many times and love their V8 Ute’s I’m a Ford but though so loved seeing the falcons. I think the new breed are V6 unfortunately.
