vdh boar brush

I picked up a vdh deluxe last night at cvs took me a week to find one of these cheap brushes.
It was originally 8 bucks i got it on clearance for 3. It was the last one too so i got lucky;
the reason i wanted it was to replace my old brush b/c i decided to take the knot out of it,
the old brush was also a vdh but the natural one, btw the difference other then color
is the deluxe is less slick on the outside...
so here is my question. do any of you know what size knot goes in the natural vdh brush?
b/c i want to put grade A silvertip in it

The VdH Natural has one of the crappiest handles I've ever seen or felt. Why would you want to waste a good Silvertip knot by putting it in such a low-grade handle? Even with a lot of lipstick, a pig is still a pig.

Do yourself a favor and search out a decent handle, or make one from scratch. That Silvertip knot deserves better.

maybe he likes the handle. Afew bucks more though and you could get a Penworks brush with the Grade A Silvertip in a nice handle. To each their own, some people like their pigs, lipstick or not.

i live in the far most south eastern city in alabama,
believe it or not there is nobody around here that
i know who use wet shaving anymore, the only brushes
they sell around here are vdh and marvy eterna, i dont
know if you have ever felt marva eterna but its the crappiest
thing i have ever held the handle was hollow plastic.
Im unemployed so therefore i have no money, i commute
60 miles a day to go to college also, i tried to get one custom made,
no takers other than shavemac his price was 12 but shipping
was the same and like i said i have no money, the handle fits
well in my hand and im use to it. my walmart quit selling the
brushes and none of the pharmacy sold them either so i had
to drive 30 miles to find the nearest cvs and they only had one left
it took me a week to find that one.

btw people always talk bout how poorly the bristle is inserted into the vdh
brush, i only wish my was that one described took me forever
to get it out of the brush, and i was a very good shop kid
i kno how to use tools, that thing was like concreted in there.
and the new one i bought to replace my first brush b/c thats the one
i took apart is 100% better then my first one so i considered it
a success now all i have to do is wait for someone to buy me the hair
and epoxy.....unemployment sucks

Actually I've considered the same thing...the handle matches my bathroom (navy blue) and fits PERFECTLY in my wooden razor/brush stand because I only had the VDH brush when I designed it.

Some high-quality, non-shedding bristles would make that handle a great brush. It's very comfortable in my hand also.

Since, I've relegated my VDH to the med cabinet with the find of a brand new Ever-Ready brush that blows it away, but the cream/red doesn't match my bathroom. :wink2:

I may convert the VDH into a badger someday.
