Van Der ... ALMOND!

I had been itching to buy an almond scented soap, but I thought I would enjoy brewing my own more. I took a puck of Van Der Hagen Deluxe from Walmart for $1.70 plus 3/4 tsp almond emulsion (NOT extract). I melted the VDH in the microwave, then poured the 3/4 tsp of the almond emulsion into my shave mug. It took a bit of stirring to break up the emulsion from its syruppy gel-like state. I stuck it in the freezer (I'm impatient, okay?) and only a couple specs of the almond floated to the top.

I took it for a spin or fifty with my brush and lathered up my face. Wonderful scent!!! Great lather from VDH as usual, and great feeling skin afterwards.

In case anyone wants to try this, I used this: http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/bakery-emulsion-almond-731125/ with a 40% off coupon bringing the total price for 4 oz to $4. The emulsion does not contain alcohol, so it won't evaporate.

The possibilities for re-scenting VDH Deluxe are nearly endless. It's mild scent is pretty easily overcome with just about any aftershave, cologne, or fragrance oil/ essential oil.
