What's new

Valobra!

I just had my second shave with my new bowl of almondy Valobra mush. The scent is just fantastic, and it was a great shave. My only problem with it was that the soap is so soft, it actually lathered more like a cream than a soap. I really dislike the way creams lather.

If only there was something similar to Valobra, but with a little more backbone to it.

Wait! How about...

Er...

I know what you mean...the scent is wonderful...I got some a couple weeks ago and I am still trying to get the lather down.

Maybe a Valroba + Valroba superlather?

That would take care of the scent. Not sure if it would lather up to your liking, though.

Valobra is gorgeous stuff.

Personally, I rather like the very soft consistency...works well with my badger brushes too, not just boars. The only qualm being that, when I load a brush off a container of the stuff (as opposed to taking a little dollop and putting that in a bowl) there are sometimes these bits that require more mixing to get them into lather. Meaning...if I don't work it enough, there's some wee wads of unlathered soap sometimes. That doesn't happen at all with Cella. But they're both lovely.

Now that I've tried MWF, Valobra is sort of tied for second...after Cella. As you said, aroma is great - not overpowering.

I love the Valobra shave stick. I've tried about 6 or 7 various shave sticks and thoroughly disliked every one , but the Valobra is in a league of its own.

I am picking up some of this on the weekend. I am REALLY excited as I have read so many great product reviews like this one.
I'll try to remember to post my thoughts on it afterward.

Valobra produces tremendously effective shaving soaps, no doubt. They are truly of the highest quality and among the very best of the great Italian barbershop tradition. I already posted a thread/review on the cream soap, called "Valobra, Crema di Sapone Purissima" (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=160395) and a thread/review on the shaving stick, called "Valobra, Sapone per barba stick" (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=161747).
Yes, this is the thread that really won me over. Thank you Marco for taking the time to post.
Cheers mr. s

That thread won me over too, I finished off a tub of Mama Bears and decided it was time to try something new.
