Valobra almond...

Is it soap, cream, or dessert? I received my latest order today and it contained a brick of this wonderful soap. Upon opening the Valobra I was immediately hit with a delicious, sweet almond smell that reminded me of the almond biscottis my grandma used to make. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to eat this stuff or shave with it! I went with the later and used it for my shave tonight. This stuff is pure awsomemess from Italy...besides the wonderful aroma that fills the bathroom as you are shaving, this stuff lathers extremely well, provides excellent razor glide and protection, and leaves your face feeling soft and supple! If you haven't tried this one put it on your list.

I've yet to meet a single Valobra user who hasn't at least once licked the stuff just to try if it tastes as fantastic as it smells.

Virgilio Valobra, Crema di Sapone Purissima is Italian quality at its best.:thumbup1:

Marco, I have seen you praise the Italian soap "Figaro" before. I am currently using the exact same (Fitness), and would like to hear your brief comparison with it and the brick of Valobra. I'm a sucker for the almond scent. Thanks.

First of all I want to underline that the majority of the Italian shaving cream soaps are Almond scented: Cella, Valobra Almond, P.160, Figaro and Fitness.
However, each of them has its unique fragrance. Figaro has the scent of "amaretto", as we say here in Italy. Or, if you prefer, it has a strong scent of sweet Almonds. Valobra has the scent of pure Almonds, but not as intense as Figaro. Both are lovely fragrances, just different.

P.S. Although Figaro and Fitness are very good products, Valobra is simply much better in terms of overall quality and performance.

Marco...what are your recommendations for storing and lathering with Valobra? Also are there any Italian aftershaves that pair well with Valobras scent?

Thanks,

Valobra can be easily molded into any soap container, due to its very soft consistency. To store it safely always close the container properly after use (even if not necessary, I use a container with an hermetic lid). Keep the container away from heat, direct sunlight and humidity.
The easiest way to lather Valobra Crema di Sapone Purissima is, in my opinion, to treat it as a soap. So swirl a wet brush on the top of the product to load the tips and proceed with face or bowl lathering technique. Easy, quick and effective.:001_smile:wink2::thumbup1:

Ciao Marco, but where does P1.60 fall in this comparison? I have not tried Valobra, Cella, Figaro or Fitness. You know well that I am a P1.60 Tipo Morbido fan.

P.160, Valobra and Cella are the very best soaps ever produced in Italy. These "big three" are the most classic and Old School soaps of the great Italian Barbershop tradition. P.160, in particular, is the most loved by Italian Master Barbers and has been introduced for professional use. Too bad it is now no longer available.

I just got the Valobra stick, and I'm really enjoying it. Can anyone tell me how it compares to the soap? Sounds like the latter is a softer consistency. Is there any difference in performace, scent, etc?

I'm not sure if this is intended for Marco or not, but a main difference is that the stick has tallow and the brick does not.

That is truly bad news!

The soap has the consistency of cookie dough.
