Vacuum Baggers for the kitchen?

I have a Foodsaver we bought from Sam's Club. Does an alright job. Foodsaver seems to have the market cornered in this area. Anything higher gets into the sous vide stuff.

I have a Food saver professional series model, does a really good job on venison, bulk chicken from Sams, etc. gotta make sure that the meat isn't too juicy though.
I've been able to keep venison and chicken fresh for nearly a year in the freezer, which does handily beat ziploc baggies. My only complaint is that it struggles to do massive amounts (one year my party had 7 deer) and the bags are rather expensive. $50 for 6 rolls which usually lasts me 2-3 years. (lol unless I have a bumper crop of venison)

Foodsavers do a decent job.

One trick I found works good before putting juicy/soft meets, such as chicken breast, in the bag is to freeze them first.

I have a foodsaver as well.

Mine will fold up out of the way, so it takes up little counter space. I am not a big fan of the canisters for storage, Just never seemed to work well for me YMMV. However the marinator works great, and I wold highly reccomend it as an additional accessory.

Couple of tips.
1. lightly freeze juicy stuff before you vac.
2. do not lock down the lid during storage, this helps keep the seal
3. I get my bags in bulk at Sams

I researched them and bought the Consumer Reports-recommended FoodSaver model. It worked well, but seemed to lose suction far before its time.

I have a Foodsaver, and it ranks as one of the best kitchen acquisitions I have made in years. You can find back models for very cheap (<$150) which are better than the current models.

Can you give me a model# Scotto? Thanks.

I'll check at home, but I think it is one of the v24xx models (xx can be a bunch of different numbers).

Pretty much everything gets sealed in our house. Cheese will keep for months in the fridge, and anything frozen is as good as new without freezer burn.

Mine is a 2830. It is white and folds up to take less counter space. Now thay have uprights, black, stainless, etc. I don't think you can go wrong. I did quite a bit of researching, and found that the biggest complaints was that the foam seal goes bad, and you can't get a replacement. I have found that the seal stays fresh if you do not lock the sealer down when in storage, only for use. Mine is going strong after several years..

You can also get generic bags ebay. Many places will send you a sampler of their bag. I found the best pdeal is get the multipack at Sams 4 wide, 2 narrow rolls (read quart and gallon size). I also find the that the rolls are a better deal than the bags, as you can make them whatever size you want.

I also make my own dessicant bags (crystal cat litter)
