Using the Merkur 39C aka Sledge Hammer

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
Well gents I have been using my Merkur 39C for about a week now and I can say I am very pleased. The endorfins kick in a little after every time I get a good smooth shave. I've been using a Gillette 7 O'clock blade in the green box and I'm on maybe my 4th or 5th use of this blade. I did draw a little blood today but, nothing to use alume over. I did 3-4 passes and got a very good shave. I used Acqua Di Parma shaving cream in the tube so maybe that had something to do with it also. I like the fragrance of it. I follwed up with some Dickensen's witchhazel and used T&H Grafton aftershave balm. The fragrance of that and of the ADP mixed well together. I had 3 days of growth on my face. It seems that I get a better shave when I let the hair grow for a couple of days. My face is smooth and soft. I can feel no stuble on my shaving area at all. That being my face and neck( chuckle chuckle). All in all I'm pleased with this razor. I'm thinking of trying my 38C to see walk kind of results I get with it. I can't wait to try my Feather blazdes and my Gillette 7 O'clock black blades in my 39C, and RR XXX. I'm enjoying this wet shaving. I'm lovin' it.

Yeap a agree its a fine shaver, for me it was like shaving with an EJ89 on Steriods, The slant is just as smooth as the EJ89 but more efficeint. I had to look at my Merkur Slant 39c when i was shaving because i sware i was shaving with a more effective EJ89. The smoothness of the slant fooled me for sure, Wow what a Shave )

I love my 39C also. It is a fascinating little implement. You've got a bunch of quality items to use so you are definitely doing it the right way.

The Slanthammer is a great razor. funny how attitudes have changed about it. When it first came out early adopters loved it, then when things settled down, it started losing that 'shine'. i am happy to see others are seeing its beauty once again.
