Using Barbicide on old shaving brushes

I'm trying to decide on how to best disinfect some antique brushes I got on a recent trip. I have enough health problems so I'd just rather err on the side of caution.

I'm wondering how many people out there have used Barbicide on their brushes and if it has had any ill effects on the brush? I've seen a few posts for both ways that the Barbicide is ok, and some that it isn't, but just hoping I can get some more clarification. Eyes are tired from reading info and trying to process it.

If I have to I'll just stick with washing the brushes a few times in soap/shampoo, but since I have some Barbicide I figured I'd use that if I'm confident it won't hurt the brush. Would give me a bit more peace of mind.

Thank you for the help!

I have the exact same problem. Info would be great.
I took the knot out of a few old brushes once and they were so full of rotten looking crap that I've just given up on vintage brushes. The info may still help me for buying a used brush off the BST

Thankfully for me the brushes I got look very good. Surprised the heck out of me when I found them. I would almost venture to say they've never been used even.

I wouldnt use barbicide on my brush.

A diluted vinegar wash, then shampoo is all ive given vintage brushes.

TBH, unless the brush is wet from being used, you shouldnt have to worry about any disease transmission
