Using a cream like a shave stick....

Does anybody else do this? The technique is like so:

1) get cream out of the jar/tube onto your fingers
2) massage the cream onto your beard with your hands
3) wet brush
4) face lather with brush

In essence, it's like a shave stick; the product is placed on the face first, and then the wet brush, rather than lathering elsewhere or placing the cream on the brush and lathering on the face.

I find that I get great results using a cream in this way. Am I the only one who does it like this?

gone down south

It's not my favorite way to do it, but I've been down that road before.
I find I get a better lather by pushing the cream down into brush so that it really mixes in with the bristles, just rubbing it on my face wasn't quite as satisfying.

I do something similar. I put some shave cream on my fingers and massage it into my facial hair. Then I'll squeeze a little dab onto the brush and lather from there. It works great for me.

I normally use shaving cream as a preshave, wet the beard, apply cream, rub it in (usually makes some proto lather), then hot towel. I then face lather my soap of choice, shave and voila.

Generally I find that I get a better shave this way, I'm not sure if the pre shave aspect improves the shave, or if the left over shave cream some how cushions the shave...

I usually lather in a bowl first, but this sounds like a quick method. I'll try it for sure, thanks for the idea!

Actually this is the way I create my daily superlather. I take some KMF and rub it on my beard, load the brush with soap, and face lather from there. Works great!

I do this with T&H 1805 as it's a bit thick for the dip the brush in the tub method. Curiously the other T&H I've got (WI Limes) works fine with the brush dip as it's much softer.

I did it again this morning, this time using TBS Maca Root cream. Worked great and I got a really comfortable shave.

I'll do this every once in a while...someone, either here or at the shave den, referred to it as "Israeli method", though I don't know if that's a personal way he calls it, or if it's an otherwise coined term

either way, works good!

this is most common for me, rub some on my beard and let it set a few moments, while I load my brush with soap or cream
works well as a pre-shave-lather lather
