Used brush

I just got a used brush how should i clean it before i use it?

I would give it a good shampoo and then I'd let it dry completely.

I would lather up some dish soap and let it soak for a few hours, and possibly a vinegar soak which is supposed to be good at getting rid of soap buildup.
