UPC code?

Someone on my local Craigslist is selling "vintage" Gillette adjustable ( looks like a black handled slim)... It is in its original sealed blister pack, and the pack has a UPC code, he doesn't date the item, but wants $150 for it...

Now I doubt I want it for that price, but can anyone date it by knowing approx when Gillette started putting UPC codes on their packages?i figured this may give some clue.

Also is $150 for a mint razor really what these things are worth? Are they In fact worth more?

It seems like a cheesy thing to say, but it is worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for it. I personally wouldnt spend that much on it, but the next guy along might jump at the chance.

That would be a 70s vintage Super Adjustable. $150 sounds steep even for a factory sealed model, but if you're a collector and you REALLY want it.......:)

no, i could never spend that much on this, i was just curious for future reference on how to date these things, found the same listing on ebay...$170...

To be more precise, it would be a late 1970's Super Adjustable. UPC/ Bar codes were not in widespread use until at least 1975; the first UPC scanned item was a pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum on June 26, 1974.
