Unused Ever Ready

Check out my recent antique store find.

It's in the box unused Ever Ready C-40. Doesn't say but looks like boar. Not sure what to do with it. Should i try using the old knot or take it out?

Great looking brush! Personally, I would put a new knot in it. But that's just me. Maybe someone with more experience could chime in.

If you are not concerned about its "collector" value as a NOS item just jump right in and use it.

No need to replace the knot unless you are just wild about the handle and want a 2 band in it.

Like your barber's handle rubberset (on your flicker account). My restored 200-1 is a favorite face lathering brush

I recently bought an unused Everyready as well. I tried it and plan to re-knot it. I my opinion the handles were better than the knots ;-)

My first inclination is to drop a 2-band in it. I was looking for a C40 like this in good shape to re-knot, but didn't expect to find one unused. And thanks on the other one. I'm actually waiting for a replacement knot now, as that one didn't stop shedding. It lathers great, it just wouldn't stop losing hair.

I used Ever Ready brushes for years. Some are quite good, although I think mine were N-40s and R-40s. All were Badger but I imagine they had some Boar bushes also. I would certainly try it as is before I put a new knot in it.

I did re-knot some of mine, but it was because after 40+ years they were worn out.

I also recently found a boxed C40. I have another one that I use, so this one will stay new in the box, at least for the time being.

nice find... my first brush was an EverReady w/ a similar knot, it says Pure Badger on the bottom. It was
great w/ the few creams that I've tried. Just gave it (and a tub of TOBS) away to a newbie
and now I'm getting another Vulvix Pure Badger to replace it.

Def try it, I personally would use it as is for creams.
