Unpacked Arko for the First Time

...and it doesn't smell all that good to me. I'm reluctant to use it but will be face lathering with it tomorrow morning with a Wee Scot. Am I really going to add this to my rotation with Proraso Green, Red, AOS Sandalwood, and Real Shaving Co.?

if you don't like it, I'll gladly take it off your hands. :)

i was a bit apprehensive about the smell, too, having learned the hard way about Tabac. I find Arko far better-smelling, though, reminding me of eastern insence more than the "urinal cake" description that many on b&b share. but Arko lathers wonderfully and is so heap that I'm fairly certain it's found a permanent place in my den, right next to all the other products you mentioned.

YMMV

If you don't like the smell just remove the packaging and let it air out in your medicine cabinet for a month or so. That will get rid of the scent and still leave Arko performing the same as when it was just opened.

It DOES smell like cheap incense. I bought some incense in Chinatown NYC that smells a bit like Arko. It's from Vietnam. It smells so bad that my (Asian) wife told me, "Don't burn that stuff in here".

I agree with the incense comment. Never understood how people thought it smelled like a urinal cake. YMMV applies to the nose as well, I guess.

I'm okay with the scent, and after my witch hazel and AS application, I can't smell it anymore, anyways.

Doesn't smell good? It stinks!

But, for some reason, it's nice and refreshing, and has terrific performance.

Hey, if you don't want to use it just send it my way, I will gladly take it off your hands!

After you build the lather the smell will grow on you like ivy. You won't look back at all. I think it's safe to say that everyone found the smell quite violent, but it very quickly becomes a fresh soapy smell.

If Arko doesn't work out for you, just throw the stick into your HE clothes washer.
At least the streets and yards for a few blocks radius will be nice and clean

I will gladly take it off your hands.. I love ARKO! Its my favorite soap right now. Been using it everyday over all my other soaps/creams!

I hardly notice it when I shave - it smells lemony fresh. I don't get the offense to the scent. Its not like it lingers after you rinse it off. And it performs so well....

After reading so many Arko threads, I decided to order some off eBay. Six sticks, delivered from Turkey for $14. I am looking forward to my first Arko shave ten days from now.
Cheers

Thanks for the offers to take it! If I decide to offload it I will definitely send it to one of you. I used it yesterday morning and it worked great! I think I can roll with it :)

Try mixing it with some cream, it helps knock down the scent.
I hated it when I first tried it, but now I love the scent.
