Hi. In unicot method of honing on coticule, do you keep the tape when you take the razor to the crox and leather strop after honing for the first time? Afterwards, I presume the stropping is done without tape, right?

Whenever you strop with a paste you keep the tape on.
When you move to regular stropping you remove the tape.

I agree with Nick; however, I would suggest that before the CrOx you try stropping on linen and leather and test the edge.
