UK-bought blades?

Hi, any UK blade buyers that can recommend a good and easily available blade? Threads on this here seem quite old, and quite negative! I'll be in London next week travelling with just apcarry on, and too late to post myself some blades I think, so will have to buy there. Thanks!

You can usually find de blades in the large supermarkets, or high street chemists like boots, but there will be only 1 type there, usually the supermarket own brand. You won't be able to find a choice of blades easily in a shop.

Nothing in the UK you can't get online - we don't make blades here! I'm in London and buy all my shaving gear online. Connaught is best for Gem PTFE otherwise just look on the usual auction site.

Thanks, any particular home brand blades recommended? Most reviews seem bad, if outdated. I only need one blade/tuck as I can bring back any with me when I leave either!

If you're looking for blades that you can buy in a store, then the choices are somewhat limited.

Here are the choices which you can find.

Supermarket own brand DE blades - the major ones seem to Sainsburys (Dorco), Tesco & Boots (Personna Tomy), Asda (not sure) and they rebrand the ones mentioned.

Boots is a high street chemist and they sometimes sell Wilkinson Sword blades as well. I've seen a number of high street shops/Chemists sell WS blades, and if you pass a local Chemist that might be your best option.

The Personna Tomy blades aren't the best, I've not tried the Dorco Sainsbury blades so I believe the WS ones might the best you might be able to find.

The German Wilkies are ok and widely available. The last time I used the Sainsbury's Dorco blades they were mediocre, and the rebranded Personnas I've used have ranged from decent to poor; perhaps some of them have been Red IPs, but of course it's impossible to tell from a bland packet with very little info on other than where they were made. You might well find some good blades in one of the specialist shaving shops in London, but I suspect this will be hit and miss.
Although I try to buy at bricks and mortar shops where possible, these days I usually buy my blades on-line.
If you let me know where you'll be staying, I will post you a few decent blades.

thanks a lot for the offer! I typo'd above - I won't be able to bring back any with me, so I really only need one blade for my 4 day stay so no point getting more than a tuck, and even that will be too many. So not worth you posting to me, but offer much appreciated! I'll try and hunt some down based on the above advice.

Let me know if you change your mind. Second class postage doesn't cost much and I could easily send you a couple of Feathers or GSBs taped to some card in an envelope. They should get to their destination in time if posted tomorrow or Thursday. Have a good trip.

Ok, I've DM'd you. Thanks!
