Two Razors per Shave

Does anyone use two different razors for one shave? I'm thinking of using my slim for my whole face except for my upper-lip where I'll use a tech because it's really sensitive. Just wondering about blade life when doing this.

I never used 2 different razors as I didn't need to do so. I would think that if you transfer the blade from razor #1 to razor #2, then, it should have the same, average, life. If you keep your blades in the razors, then, you might be able to do a lot of shaves with the one that will shave your upper-lip only!

I do the exactly same thing, I keep my slim on 4 with Derby or Personna blades and my tech has a feather in it for the area under my nose that requires the slim head of the tech. I change the blade on my tech after every 12 shaves just because I figure I get about 6 full shaves with the feather blades, I probably could go another 6 shaves with the tech but why risk irritation for .50 cents. I also use the tech for traveling so it works out great and feathers work great in the tech but I bet I could probably use any blade for it. I also use a shave oil which I make with extra virgin olive oil and a few drops of Lavender essential oil.

The only time I ever use two razors is when I use a straight. I'll normally pull out a DE to clean up my neck area.

I only use 2 razors when I am using up blades that I don't like; the mediocre blade in the 1st razor for a WTG, sometimes XTG. The 2nd razor is loaded with a nicer blade to finish the job and leave my face in one piece.

Can't you use the slim on your face at X setting, then dial it down to 1 for your upper lip?
The Wiki says a Tech and an adjustable at 1 have the same blade gap.

I read that too. But I've had four slims and all of them have a noticeably smaller gap than a tech when they are at 1. I like the thinness of the tech's head for under the nose.

Kyle Hyde, I'm with you.
lately I've been using a 66 SS w/a feather to get the last bits around my lips and nose. lighter smaller and easier than either the slim on 6 or NEW long comb that I've been using for everything else.
Blade life... ?. Replace them when they need it.

If my beard is 3 or more days of growth, I'll use my open comb for the first pass, and finish up with my straight bar. For just 1 or 2 days of beard I'll just use the straight bar. I only do a 2 pass shave anyway, WTG and ATG. I also do any blade buffing/chopping with the straight bar. I'll often have 3 days of growth so using the 2 razors gives me a very smooth, comfortable shave. It might not be for everyone, but it works for me. I use either the 1904 or the HD. :001_tongu  :w00t:

This works well for me too -- especially after going three or four days without shaving. Typically start with an open comb for the first pass and a straight bar for the second.

hi
every day use a differant one ,and then at the end if i find any rough bits , get the slant to finish off , :wink2: be ok with the one i am using ,but just like to use the slant. makes having a shave a bit more interesting ,playing around with the sharp things .

Gotta admit--I use a DE (Slim or Fatboy) for the main action, but, once I've rinsed off and notice a few trouble or patchy spots (like under the nose, or those trouble hairs just under the bottom lip) I'll reach for my Shick Quattro to do a little light dustup.
