What's new

Two Months - Observations

It's been officially two months since I gave up my Mach 3 & Barbasol. What an adventure it has been! First of all I developed what qualifies as an addiction. In two months I went from nothing to owning 6 DE razors, 2 brushes and 3 different kinds of creams (not counting countless samples.) Not to mention discovering the joys of the alum block and witch hazel.

My face just feels better. Even 2 days later my stubble actually feels better and more even then it ever did using a mach 3. It's a sensation that's hard to put into words.

In order to hone my skill I started shaving before bed. I discovered that a good BBS shave the night before can last me well into the next day and I'm still presentable 36 hours later. Over the last 10 days or so I have trusted myself to shave in the morning. I am a procrastinator by habit so this means I have gone without shaving a few days. I did however make one mistake...

This last weekend I picked up a Mach 3 in an attempt to get a quick shave in the shower before an important meeting. What a mistake. The shave just wasn't very good. My face still felt rough. The growth was noticeable not even 10 hours later. Worse then that it was uneven and felt jagged like Velcro.

Call it a last fling. One last time with that old romance. After it was clear we both had moved on.

I won't be going back there again.

Best of all, a Mach 3 won't leave pleading mesages on your answering machine. Or stalk you. Or boil your bunny.

I'm coming up on two months as well, and I'll agree with the OP.

I will say that I usually shave in the evenings, just because I don't like to be rushed. Shaving under a deadline just ruins the fun of it for me. And I have to admit, I really DO use a DE just for the fun of it. As much as it pains me to say it, I didn't really notice a huge difference between the shaves I got from the Mach 3 and my DE setup.

But shaving is a lot more enjoyable now.

And here I am, looking to wade even further into this madness and pick up a straight. I've spent money that I probably shouldn't have, but my argument is you only go around once in this life, so you might as well enjoy the ride, right?

I think once i build up my shave den with a few quality bruushes and other tools i will look into a straight. whats funny is on my jurny at least 3 of my friends have joined me.

A month into this fun--the two day stubble test is a new benchmark for me.

With the Fusion, Mach III, Quatro 4.....two day stubble was difficult, pulled, and hurt.

Now with a bit of prep, sharp blade--even on its 3rd use--good cream--these suckers get mowed down pain and pull free.

Nice work!
