Two farthest places you've been?

I mean the greatest distance between two points on Earth you've visited. The earth has a circumferance at the equator of 24,901.55 miles, so the farthest apart you can be from another place is approximately 12,450.775 miles (keeping in mind that the earth is elliptical rather than round).

The farthest west I've been is Lahaina, Kauai, and the farthest east I've been is Samsun, Turkey. According to this site, that's 8073.4 miles apart. What's your score? Those that have circumnavigated the globe may claim 12,450.775 miles and wear the mantle of "Ancient Traveller". Those that have gone halfway around the world and then turned around and went back may wear the mantle of "Forgot to turn off the stove".

This is very cool.

The farthest apart I could manage was 6747.4 miles, between Caracas, Venezuela, where I spent two weeks for my borther's wedding(his Wife was born and raised there, although they now live in Penn Valley, PA), and Bethel, Maine, home of Sunday River Ski Area, where my family and I have vacationed numerous times.

So I 've done a little more than a quarter of the way around the globe, going from the equator up into the northern hemisphere, all without leaving the time zone!

Which ever is furthest from KC-Pacific Ocean at San Diego, Atlantic Ocean at Statue of Liberty or Tijuana, MX.

Neat idea. Best I can muster is 5401.3 miles between Anchorage and Sicily. Is there a mantle for 43% around the world? :001_huh::001_smile

6116 miles (9843 kilometers). San Francisco, CA to Firenze, Italia.

Being in the military I have been all over the world. Sorry for the lack of approximate distance, but I am from PA and live in Guam now. Pretty far...22-26 hour flight.

my father was in the military so I spent a great deal of my childhood & teen years living in Japan.

5235. Kauai to Jamaica. This is a neat idea. So it got me to thinking, my Grandmother immigrated from New Zealand to the US entering in New York which is a hair over 9000.

I'm in the order of the stove. I've been deployed from Seattle to the Persian Gulf. I've also traveled to Ireland from the East Coast. I think I've done 80% of the world now.

Honolulu, Hawaii to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, 12,310.8 miles. (I was actually only in the airport in Honolulu. If you go by where I actually stayed on the Big Island, it's 12,270.1 miles.)

San Francisco to Pol Pot Cambodia was my best at 8800 miles, kinda of crazy to think about, people used to live their entire lives never traveling more than 50 miles from there house and we can hop on a plan and fly 1/4 of the way around the world

Toronto to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin Island, Russia (5684 miles) but I took a long way Toronto-Frankfurt(8 hours) Frankfurt-Moscow(3 hours) Moscow- Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (9 hours).
