TwinLuxe Soothing Face Balm discussion thread

I recently received a sample of this product for review. Per the Review guidelines I'm creating a thread for the product discussion. Please see my review here.

The gist of my review is that I really liked the product. I have very sensitive skin (as well as rosacea) and this product does a great job both soothing after the shave as well as acting as a daily moisturizer.

Though a little bit goes a long way the $64 price for 4oz is obviously steep. Their demographic isn't B&B members by and large IMO. It is more the high-end skin care line.

Since I received the product for free I will be sending it on tour for other members to try. I plan to use the product for another week before sending it on its journey. I'll bump this thread for folks that would like to be included on the tour.

Very nice review and thanks for sharing. I'm up to try it when the tour gets going, anything that works well on sensitive skin I'm willing to test on mine. Would you send the bottle as-is on a tour or samples of it in smaller containers?

The (key) ingredients are listed on the product page, there's a "key ingredients +" link:

I saw that, but "key ingredients" isn't exactly an ingredients list. Are these listed in order so we know approximately what the many components are. Also what are the "non-key ingredients"

I'll put the entire ingredients list, in order, on my review. I told the company I'd use it for a week before reviewing it, so I have to use it one more day prior to posting my review. I'll post my review right after CBDoubleEdge's so it will be easy to find.

As promised, I posted my review this evening, along with a listing of all the ingredients.

Please read my review, which is posted directly beneath CBDoubleEdge's in the Reviews subforum.

Here's the big question, would you pay $65 for it?

I'm not sure right now. I'm going to keep using it and see. If it keeps my face soft and flake-free all winter long (a task that no other moisturizer has ever been able to do) then I would consider it "indispensable," and thus worth the seventy-ish bucks (shipping included).

This price may sound exorbitant but when you factor that you use a small amount, the container will probably last you an eternity. Not a bad deal after all.

I would buy virtually anything shaving related because even the most expensive product is really just pennies a day. Of course there are things that are ridiculously expensive (Czech & Speake Shaving Bowl @ $100) but $64.00 for a years worth of ASB isn't really that much.

ASB seems to last a VERY long time. I have a T&H 1805 ASB that has lasted more than three years since I received it as a gift. So, for me as long as it really works, it is not expensive over the long term.

Is this AS is basically a moisturizer? If so, what can you guys compare it to?

I'm thinking it's close to hydrolast 30$ and getleman's refinery 40$.

As a moisturizer it would be tough to beat the hydrolast product. Why would anyone tolerate a nasty smell at this price point?

This bark ingredient - Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract - is the key ingredient in art of shaving's ingrown hair treatment to combat inflammation. Is it the same ingredient I wonder?

I tried the TGR moisturizer and found it too heavy/greasy for my taste, but my skin tends to be on the oily side. It may work well for someone with dry skin but it was not for me. I do like the TGR unscented ASB though.

As for willow bark extract, from what I understand it is similar to salicylic acid (aspirin) and it is used in natural acne products as a skin exfoliant. Looking at ingrown treatments, it seems that most of them are based on alcohol and salicylic acid.

It's probably pretty similar to the Gentleman's Refinery product, although I've never tried it. It's probably not fair to call it just a moisturizer, as it does have specialized ingredients such as the one you mentioned.

It doesn't have a "nasty smell." It smells like lotion. My wife doesn't like the smell, but I don't mind it at all. My son has been using it on dry patches of skin on his face and he didn't even notice it. There isn't a strong smell to it at all.

Thanks. Great write up KF.

Raady to start the tour.

I'll be sending the product to the first person on the list. It's his for 7 shaves. After that he is responsible for shipping to the next person.

I'm going to open it to 10 folks. Hopefully there will be some for me at the end!

Please respond here if you'd like to be included.
