TV show and movie suggestions

I would like some ideas and input on family friendly, feel good tv show or movie. I just got done watching The Cosby Show and Golden Girls. I like I Love Lucy, 7th Heaven, etc. What else do you have to mention? :)

Sign up for Netflix. Your family will thank you. They sort movies and TV shows by categories, and "Children and Family" is one of them.

Are you talking vintage TV or modern stuff?

'cuz with the modern stuff it's a lot harder to find a diamond in the rough.

Depends on how old ur kids are but for younger teens I'd think Glee would be good, talks about a lot of tough issues that kids face and has some very good music.

I am open to older and newer stuff. It is more for my wife and I. We have a 19 month old daughter so when we are watching TV we want to have something "safe" but not Sesame Street for example or Spunge Bob. My wife and I like many Disney movies. We like the Hallmark channel for example. It can be funny or family friendly, old or new. We just watches Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, as well as Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

A couple of family friendly movies that the kids loved and my wife and I did as well;

The Princess Bride- very funny. I have watched this many times.

Stardust- although there was a little risque humor which flew over the kids' heads.

I would recommend the series Due South, about a mountie and the Chicago cop solving crime in Chicago. It is fun stuff, definitely family friendly and can be found pretty cheap. I do not know if it is available or not but I think the first season of the Lonesome Dove TV sounds right up your alley. Stay away from the later seasons as the show took a darker turn.

Do yourself a favor and go to your library (if they have a DVD section) and Check out the entire Television series of "The Dick Van Dyke Show", it ran from October of 1961 till June of 1966, is very family friendly, but has genuine "grown up" humor. I use that term instead of "adult" humor because of the connotations of that word these days.
Truly a hilarious series, and well worth a watch no matter what age you are.
