Tuna Melt

I love making quick and easy comfort foods from scratch. Tuna melts are one of those foods. This one is made from one can of white albacore tuna, some salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne powder, dried dill weed, mustard powder, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and some diced fresh Vidalia onion and poblano pepper on sourdough bread. Some sliced sharp cheddar is between the bread and the mixture, and some shredded cheddar is sprinkled on top. I baked it in the oven for about 15 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

I should have drained the water out of the can from this batch a little more. Normally, it would be browned more on top at this temperature for this duration.

Do any of you like to make tuna melts? What's your recipe?

My recipe is as follows:

White tuna
Mayo
Chopped onions
Parsley
Salt
Pepper
Red Vinegar
I mix all of the above in a bowl and set aside.

I brown one side of the sourdough bread in the broiler turn over and then add all of the mixture to the bread. I then add cheddar cheese slices and the sliced tomatoes. Cover with the sourdough bread (only the inner part of the bread has been toasted. Then flip.

If I want it spicy I add some hot sauce.

Cheddar cheese
Sliced tomatoes
Sourdough bread
