trumper's eucris puck duration

An oft answered question on this forum is How long does a puck of shaving soap last? The standard reposte is how long is a string of rope? or various abbreviations such as YMMV or YVMV. Well, I decided to do my own survey and, despite temptation from my vast den of creams and soaps, I shaved reigiously for the past 4 months solely with a puck of Eucris and my trusty shavemac 220. I managed to squeeze 172 days of continuous shaving based on a 3-pass shave.
Eucris is often derided as an inferior version of the trumpers of old and I would now tend to agree. whether this is a standard practice with trumpers remains to be seen. Eucris is a relative newcomer to the trumpers stable

Anyway, I am looking for volunteers now to see how long a can of Gilette shaving gel will last. Any takers?

Thanks for posting your data. That is an 80-g puck, right? Half a gram per shave is a good planning number for a hard soap, and you came pretty close to that.

Well there is the old adage 'if you have too many and they're lasting too long... use more product' that should work, and then continue to accumulate and consume...and move to somewhere with hard water...! :001_smile

Thank you for doing this. I could never have that kind of patience. It's always nice to hear some definitive answers. While I love the eucris scent, I agree the performance leaves a bit to be desired

Indeed. I have to say I've never used a Trumper's soap (yet), and have read much (particularly in the English soaps evaluation/comparison thread) of the inconsistent quality.

At that time, some made masses of lather quite easily, and some were terrible.

It's not even an issue of making lather, its more of a problem of stability. It breaks down, dries out, etc etc.

For example, here is a lather I made a couple days ago with a puck of floras no 89. It looks great, but it dries out incredibly fast on the face, which needless to say, is a bit of a problem

If it's drying out too fast then you're not using enough water, or enough product with which to hold said water

My girlfriends dad shaves 3 times a week. I've shaved with TOBS sandalwood cream since December 7th 2011. In that time he has used 2 and is half way through a 3rd can of Gillette pro glide gel. He's spent £14 on gel and god knows on razors. I've spent £7 on cream and about £3 on razors. He still cannot see the light!

"Got Shoes?"
You got some good distance out of that puck. I used the Trumper Sandalwood soap (with a variety of brushes) and it lasted from 01/01/2012 to 03/16/2012.
