True HORROR story!

I can almost GUARANTEE this has never happened to you.

So i'm on vacation back in Columbus Ohio and i'm trying to find a barber who can cut my hair the way i like and provide me with an adequate shave/beard line up. Usually I have to settle for compromise on one of the two..either a decent trim and a horrible line up or vice versa.

Decided to take a little drive around a different neighborhood and came across a barber shop that seemed pretty busy, great he's gotta be decent. So i park and head in and wait about 45 mins. Finally get in the chair and things are going good he's doing my hair the way I like and has lined me up decently. So I ask him to shorten the hair length and edge it out with a razor. HERE'S WHERE THINGS TAKE A TURN FOR THE WORST!

He proceeds to take out a DE razor (dollar store brand) breaks it in TWO my guess is to save the other half for another customer. As I sit there thinking *** he starts lathering my face up with something clear and sweet smelling...I usually know my brands and know what the typical barber would use as far as shaving gear goes...realizing its not foaming up and in fact starting to BURN I lean over and the label on the jay reads "crystal ice hair gel" (I KID U NOT!) So at this point i'm sitting there dumb founded knowing very well that I need to get up and walk out...lol but i simply can't. He then tells me to put my head back (there's no head rest my neck is breaking) and he starts to hack away at my face. Runs the straight edge across my cheek leaving a nice light scaring which I didn't see until after I took a shower. He then had a phone call to take which was prefect because it gave the gel time to dry. Not once throughout this process was water used...that's rite he didn't even rinse it off. Nope instead he applied what he called aftershave to my face and sent me on my way. Charging me a nice $15.

I have no idea what to say to all of this lol but thought i'd share. Anyone got a better story.

CLIFF notes: Got shaved with hair gel not sure what to make of it

Funny you mentioned the hair gel, I get my hair cut at a Mexican barbershop and they usually go over the edges with a straight and a blue gel out of a jar that I always thought might be hair gel. It even had a cooling effect to it.

Anyway, it never gave me any cuts or anything, so if it really was hair gel maybe some stylists are able to pull it off, as weird as it sounds. Why they would choose to use it instead of shaving cream, I don't know.

But for the rest of the story, sorry to hear about such a bad haircut experience. Breaking the razor in half is pretty messed up, I didn't know you could even do that!!!

As for breaking the razor blade in half, it sounds like he was using a shavette. In order to load one of those things, you only use half a DE blade. It's not ideal, but due to health regulations that's all most barbers can use.

Of course, I can't speak to all of the other crap the guy did.

Yeah we hear stories about those Columbus barbers all the time up here in Warren. I'm a head shaver also so no problem there.
