What's new

tried this after shaving

The results seemed rather nice. I took a cotton pad and soaked it with lemon juice and put some sugar on it and "polished my face", the combination is supposed to be good for your skin and may eventually fade freckles and dark spots as well as exfoliate your skin leaving it smooth and clean, I applied it several times to get my whole face polished (forehead cheeks nose) and did my final rubdown with lemon juice before rinsing and pat drying. Think of it as polishing a BBS shave

You're doing this after every shave? That seems like a bad idea to me. You're using the blade to cut off layers of skin + using the acid chemicals of the lemon juice to burn off more skin + using the grind of the sugar to physically rough off more skin, all in the space of minutes, and then repeating the next day or day after?

Just shaving is aggressive on my face no matter how skilled I get at it, and even just cleansing my beard area would be bad for me. It depends on your face I guess; some people will find that backing away from exfoliating so much will result in nicer looking skin.

i have never done the lemon juice mixture, I have however done the baking soda and water treatment once a week before bed so I give my face time to recooperate after shaving...I found once a week it does leave nice polished smooth skin.

I wouldn't do it every day but maybe once or twice a week seems reasonable, you might want to give your face a couple of hour rest after shaving if you have sensitive skin, my skin is pretty tough, little to no burn from the lemon juice YMMV

I routinely apply aftershaves after shaving and don't get much more than a tingle after shaving.
