Tried my Mach 3 Turbo again the other day

I was going through the cabinet in my bathroom the other day and I came across my old Mach 3 Turbo just sitting there collecting dust. The blades looked sharp, so I lathered up and away I went. You know, I got a damn good shave with this thing! BBS, or least near BBS, with no nicks or razor burn. I wouldn't mind adding it into my rotations (with my DE and Atra), but I'm not paying the ridiculous prices Gillette wants for these carts. Does anyone make less expensive carts for this razor?

Congrats on a great shave! I recently used a can of Barbasol and it was great! followed it up a few days later with a can of Bigelow creme...great also!

I subscribe to the theory of "if you enjoy it then use it". Carts, canned creme, Derby blades :biggrin1: whatever it is. It's just shaving!

I don't know of anyone that makes cheaper carts for M3.

I think you're the 1st person I've ever heard say they liked Barbasol...usually nobody in this forum likes canned shaving cream, but then again, most don't like shaving with carts either...

I don't know, if I had to use canned goo (I'm talking someone holding a gun to my head), I could use Edge gel...it's not too bad...

I agree. Edge used to be my travel lather, until I got my Simpson Case. I could use it if there were no other choices but Pitralon or a few other soaps that were really bad.

I liked the Mach 3 a lot, but the Fusion turned out to be better for me. Either way, no shame in using what works for you.

As to the Barbasol, I used to use it as a preshave conditioner. I got that from barbers who would lather my face and then put a hot towel over it. That wasn't the lather they shaved with. It did a decent job at prepping my face, I thought. I actually liked Gillette Fusion ProGlide Clear Shave Gel from a tube (not a can). Very moisturizing and protective. Non-lathering though. I liked it because it made it a bit easier to keep my beard straight.

I haven't used the goo in a long time. But I used the Fusion yesterday for the first time in months. Great shave!
