What can I say? I'm a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas. So when you absotutely posolutely have to wear some T.N.B.C. gear, you gotta go with the Vans brand. 😎

As Halloween approaches I have to be even more vigilant then ever. Being a member of the Black Watch 😉 means I needs to be strong and keep my eyes open for nefarious figures (or whiskers).

My weapon of choice today was the ever so reliable Blackland Era. Seeing as it's Open Comb October, I went with the open comb level 5 base plate. This is a highly efficient, blade forward feeling base plate. Personally, I love it as it always produces a high quality shave.

I lathered up with my trusty Vikings Blade White Knight and my local artisan bowl. I then proceeded to do a three-pass shave including some against the grain buffing. The Treet Classic blade continued to impress. I thought it may not be up to the challenge but it seems it is a worthy blade to battle with.

I finished up with the staples and some beautiful Black Watch aftershave. But beware the spooksters are coming!

Razor : Razorock Old type OC, Mfg 2015>, nice mild range OC, some tab overhang, simple design and works well. I use to take this razor when travelling in Mexico in case of nicks and irritation(if you nick yourself it is from poor technique IMO + great little razor and affordable IMO.
Blade : Treet carbon steel- sharp & smooth with minimal longevity IMO. 1 & 2 shaves are great but tends to fall off after that.
Soap : Gillette Pure cream, nice clean sweet scent with excellent lather qualities. Makes excellent ubber lather from remnants of soap also in bowl.
Brush : Yaqi(Casino clubs) 26mm timber wolf synthetic knot, excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Pinaud Clubman with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).

Fourth shave on this blade and it is still going strong. My formerly reddish brown hair is on the fine side, so I probably get more ahaves per blade than some. I binned it anyway, just to be safe

Trick or Treat week, daily double, Saturday, October 29th 2022

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur SE 50mm, Yaqi Milano handle, Mfg 2021> excellent tame mid range, interesting clamping design, small head parts. I always receive excellent shaves with this razor 95%> of the time.
Razor : Yaqi Telstar DE head with a Micromatic handle - Mfg head 2022>,mid range, good finish on Zamak head with positive blade feel.
Blade : Schick Proline p30, sharp & smoooth with reasonable longevity. I enjoy this blade a lot.
Blade: Treet black beauty carbon steel (2 .33) sharp & smooth for 2 shaves . Its a 2 shave blade for myself with my beard type. The first 2 shaves where great!
Soap : Mitchell's wool fat, mild clean scent when puck is dry, when lathered scent is more noticeable, good lather qualities. Triple milled, I cut some slivers off with my pocket knife and press into bowl and start with a squeezed damp brush(2 flicks will work) and just start until the paste starts and just add drops of water by hand or a spray mister and repeat...... until desired lather reached and it produces a nice lather. Too much water at first will make your lather bubbly & will make you chase your preferred lather is my conclusion. Easy soap to use in 1-2 minutes of lathering then apply to a wet face.
Brush : Yaqi "orbital ring"24mm boar bristle, excellent lather generator, soft split end bristles, excellent splay scrubber + good lather painter.
Post shave : witch hazel beard cleanse + Nivea refreshing AS(nice scent)+ a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: I started out with the Treet blade but it was not performing well so went with my Yaqi Excalibur 50mm with a Schick proline p30 blade with the normal excellent results.

Halloween Week / Trick or Treet Week / OCtober

Prep: P.A.A. Cube 2.0

Razor: Alpha Shaving Works Bandit (prototype) w/ (no lather drains) open comb base plate
Blade: Treet Classic

Soap: Stirling Soap Co. - Ramblin' Man
Brush: Yaqi Purple Haze
Bowl: Bluff Cove Pottery

Post 1: P.A.A. Alum No-Slip Grip System w / Dry Dock System
Post 2: Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Deep Cleansing Astringent w/ Menthol & Eucalyptus
Aftershave Balm: Stirling Soap Co. - Ramblin' Man
Aftershave Splash: Guerlain Vetiver (used a while afterward)

Today's shave is brought to you buy this Happy (meal) bunch. Let me introduce you to McPunk'n, McGoblin and McBoo.

Some of you may remember these or some of the other variations but these Halloween buckets are very nostalgic toe. So, when McDonald's announced they were bringing them back, I just had to have them.

For today's shave I'm getting one last dance with this absolutely beautiful Bandit by Alpha Shaving Works. Seeing as it's still Open Comb October and that I love this razor's open comb base plate, choosing it was an easy decision.

I paired the razor with the Treet Classic blade that's now quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This shave is the third run with the blade and it performed superbly.

I did a four-pass shave, not so much because it was needed, but more so because I was enjoying this shave and wanted more time with the Bandit. With this said I earned a super smooth bbs shave.

The Stirling Ramblin' Man soap was top-notch and reliable as always. The scent is one of my absolute favorites. It's very smooth and manly. I can't recommend this one enough.

Another fantastic shave in the books on this pre-Halloween weekend.

Ramble on gentlemen and enjoy your shaves.
