Treadmills for home use

My wife and I have a 12 year old Landice treadmill that decided this morning that it didn't want to work anymore. We're having a repairman come look at it. If it can't be repaired for a reasonable sum, we'll replace it.

My wife walks 4-6 miles, 5 days a week on it. I jog/run on it a couple times a week. Usually I go 4-5 miles, but I've gone up to 11 on it (in case you're wondering, 11 miles on a treadmill sucks)

Has anyone purchased a home treadmill in the last year? Do you have any recommendations?

I have an Octane elliptical. I find it to be much easier on the joints.

I too have an elliptical machine, a Smooth Fitness CE 3.0.

No pounding on the knees or lower back.

If you have proper form the pounding you joints/lower back take is actually less/same than it is on an elliptical.

depending on budget I enjoy the Precor line ( home or commercial ) but they tend to be $2,500 on up new (you can find some used models on Amazon for significant discounts) but have great customer service and a 10 year warranty on most models.
