Travel (Leather) Strop Suggestions?

Title pretty much says it all. I've been traveling with a Feather AC, but would prefer to take a straight. Any suggestions? FYI, I'll pass on the USA Today strop.

I know whippeddog.com has a travel strop at a good price, I think also star shaving.com has a travel strop as well

Another vote for The Whipped Dog "poor man's strop." It's handy, light (no hardware) and inexpensive enough that if something happens to it, it won't break your heart. IMHO.

Just take a regular strop. It's flat, and takes up about zero space in your suitcase.

Im always baffled by the concept of miniaturized "travel" shave gear. Such as a smaller brush, etc. You have a suitcase for a reason: pack it full of your stuff and enjoy your trip, don't skimp by using crappy little gear on the road--use the best!

It's fun to pack the "campaign chest" with miniature travel gear for a trip. I like using my shorty razor and wee scot in hotels. It makes me feel like I am away.

Now HERE is one of the more cogent statements I have heard in a while.

Sadly air travel may toss a spanner in the works sometimes, but I'm finding check through luggage is often not that big a deal.

I travel very little anymore. Last overnighter, back in November I was a away for a few nights so I took my loom strop with me. I could have traveled with any one of my hanging strops as I drove up to NC using my pick up truck with everything I packed in a duffel but I wanted to see how my loom strop would perform in a motel room

here's the one I have-

Jarrod at the superior shave sells these shipped for $40

I originally obtained this strop after reading post #14 in this thread

http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/248258-What-would-you-recommend-for-a-new-honer

FWIW, I was surprised with the edge I got stropping on red Dovo paste. It was most certainly sharp!, but no where near as smooth as I'm used to honing and touching up using coticule hones

Anyways, I had left the red Dovo paste on this strop for a long time as I wasn't using this strop at all, then I had this trip coming up last November so I cleaned the red Dovo paste completely off the leather strop using saddle soap

this type of strop is very narrow, but if you are looking for a compact strop, this could be right up your alley. I was busy during the days when I was in NC but the evenings were all mine so I had time to get to know how to use the loom strop. IMO, they are nice for what they are, which is a travel strop, that is if you're looking for something to pack into a relatively small space

here's another thought...you could strop your blades beforehand and take them with you, so that you wouldn't need to strop before shaving. After your shave you could strop using a hand or a bath towel just to clean the edge, then take it to some denim material (a spare clean pair of jeans?) to get the edge warmed up to insure a dry blade for stowage till; you get back home...or do the dry stropping on the bed linens or a T-Shirt over a hard cover book you brought along to read. Nothing replaces real leather though but if you're only going away for a few nights...you might think about taking a razor roll with just the blades you need for each shave, and strop each before you leave home...just a thought
