Transformation over the first year from aggressive to milder razors

About a year ago I picked up a new hobby - traditional wet shaving. Over the past year, I've noticed an interesting transformation - I started off using more aggressive safety razors (think RazorRock .84, ATT H1 plate) with milder blades (Croma Diamant, Personna Red) and now I find myself using milder safety razors (Rockwell 6 - plate #3, Gillette Red Tip) with much more aggressive blades (Feather, Gillette Wilkinson Shanghai)

Has anyone else went through a similar transformation in the past?

IMO the biggest change is likely that your technique has improved substantially! With good technique you get more out of your equipment.

Many of us (including yours truly) had similar experience.

I also think technique is one of the most important factors; all blades are very sharp.

Interesting note. I have the RazoRock .84 and some cheap blades that I'm not sure are aggressive or not. I'll keep this in mind as I get more familiar with the technique.

I also have some Rapira Platinum Lux blades I got on sale but haven't used yet. Anyone know how these are rated on aggressiveness?
