Top 5 St. Petersburg, Russia DE Blades

I have always found the double edge blades produced at the St.Petersburg Products factory in Russia to be some of my all time favorites.

Here are my Top 5, what are yours?:

1) Iridium Super Extra Stainless

2) Gillette Platinum

3) Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum Blue

4) Gillette Silver Blue

5) Polsilver Super Iridium

*Honorable Mention to Gillette Rubie

1. Perma-Sharp Super.

2. Wizamet Super Iridium (My favorite until I stumbled upon the Perma-Sharp).

3. White Box Platinums (sometimes called White-Box Swedes).

4. 7 O'Clock Super Platinum Blue (no longer in production).

5. 7 O'Clock Sharp-Edge Yellow.

With the exception of the Astra, I've found all the St. Pete blades I've tried to be very good to excellent.

Never tried the Perma-Sharp, Thanks for your input...

no specific order -

Polsilver Super Iridium
Gillette Silver Blue
Gillette Nacet
Parma-Sharp
Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless (green)
Gillette 7 O'clock SharEdge (yellow)

I know that's six. I also know I'm forgetting some excellent blades.

IMHO I think that the Platinum Lux, Chrome Stainless, Super Stainless, Swedish Supersteel, Ladas, Sharp Star and Voskhod blades from the Rapira factory in Moscow are better value for money,
But........
I quite liked all of the St. Petersburg blades that I've tried
Order of preference is a tough choice, but...

1. Astra Superior Platinum
2. Sputnik
3. Perma-Sharp Super
4. Gillette Nacet
5. Gillette Rubie
6. Astra Superior Stainless

I'm a big fan of russian blades, and microphones and vodka....ahem....

Here is my to 5 bladfes

  1. Wizamet Iridium Super
  2. Perma-Sharp (A very close second)
  3. PolSilver Super Iridium
  4. Nacet
  5. GSB (Thought they would never be 5th)

The more I shave with the Perma-sharps the more I like them.

These are my current favourites in approximate order

1. Perma-sharp SS
2. Gillette Yellows
3. Astra SP
4. Polsilver SI
5. Gillette SS Greens

But these are also the only ones I have tried from this factory.

Of the ones I have used:

seven o'clock yellow (after the initial shave)
GSB
astra sp

i still have an untried tuck of nacet as well.

My top 5, in order of preference:

!. Gillette Nacet Stainless
2. GSB
3. Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharpedge Yellow
4. Gillette Rubie
5. Astra SP (I think the first three blades are significantly better, but Astras are a very good value)

BigJ

Ambassador
For me it would be a top 3: GSB, Astra SP and Nacet. Most every other St Petersburg option I have tried is in the good to excellent range! :thumbup1:

My top 5, in order of preference:

!. Polsilver Super Iridium
2. Gillette Silver Blue
3. Perma-Sharp Super
4. Gillette Platinum
5. Astra Superior Platinum

1. 7 O'Clock Yellow (SharpEdge)
2. 7 O'Clock Green ("Super Stainless")
3. PolSilver Super Iridium
4. Nacet
5. 7 O'Clock Blue (would be #1 or 2 of still in production)

Mostly from the wrong factory...

In no particular order:
Gillette Platinums
Gillette Silver Blues
Gillette 7 o'clock yellows
gillette Rubies
polsilver SI's

Rapira Plat Lux's are my go to blade however. The Russians have this whole DE razor blade thing figured out.

Big Perma-sharp super and Nacet fan here. For all I know, they could both be the same blade... Either one of those suckers always perform well for me. Polsilvers I suppose, are my next preferred. GSB and Astra will do from time to time also.

I'm getting into these Russian blades and have some coming in for trial. So far, my list:

1) GSB (favorite blade period, took last one to 29 comfortable shaves)
2) Astra SP
3) Polsilver SI (only one blade sampled, stopped at 13 shaves)
4) Nacet (only one blade sampled, currently @ 11 shaves)

Yet to try:
Platinum
7'Oclock Black
7'Oclock Yellow
7'Oclock Green (I don't have any yet)
Rubie (not sure that I have any)
