What's new

Top 5 Aftershaves?

5? Are you crazy?

OK. I'll narrow it down to 5:

Nivea Sensitive
Proraso Balm (the old stuff in the clear bottle / green cap, whatever that's called)
Dollar Tree splash
vintage Avon - take your pick
8-way tie for 5th:
- Clubman
- Trumper's Skin Food
- Stetson
- Brut
- Old Spice for the scent but not the A/S properties
- Tabac for the scent but not the A/S properties
- Afta
- Aqua Velva Ice Balm

Still pretty new to the AS game, but so far for me its:

1. Fine American Blend
2. Pinaud Clubman
3. Fine Platinum
4. Stirling Executive Man
5. Captain's Choice Cat O' Nine Tails

What I would love to try is:
-Captain's Choice Venture
-Henry et Victoria Nautilus
-B&M Seville
-Lucky Tiger

For now...
In terms of performance, something like:
1: Australian Private Reserve
2: Floid
3: B&M
4: T.N. Dickinson's Wich hazel
5: Myrsol emulsion

In terms of scent, something like:
1: Australian private reserve - several. If I had to pick one for year-round, probably lixiviant.
2: Fine - L'Orange Noir
3: B&M- Seville
4: Floid - Mentolado Suave
5: Beaver Woodwright Thomas Tew

Of course, there are many to be tried yet :)

Hmmmm.
DrJons Flowers in the dark
DrJons Blood Oath
Stirling BenFrankland (spelling?)
Chisel Face Santa Paula
Bay Rum my wife got me but i cant remember the brand....

I have just over 30 splashes and balms. These are current standouts but I wouldn't give up the others either.

WM Neumann splashes- Many scents
Truefitt and Hill -balms not splashes
Krampers Frost bite
Chatallion Lux - Just 3 scents
Myrsol Emulsion
Eufros Rosa Bourbon - Not sure if this is in production. I know Manual has a sourcing problem with the oil for the shave soap. I assume it applied here as well?

Speick
C.O. Bigelow Dr. Galen Herbal Face Tonic
Thayer's Superhazel or Lavender-Mint
Homemade Alcohol/Hydrosol/Witch Hazel blend
Lucky Tiger

These are the only ones I use at this point.

For summer, mine are:
1) Fine American Blend
2) PAA Clubman
3) Razorock Son of Zeus
4) Proraso Green
5) AV Ice Sport
Runner Up: Pinaud Bay Rum

In no particular order:

1. L'Occitane Cade balm - This is an outstanding winter balm. Expensive but thick and a little goes a long way.
2. Tallow & Steel - These aftershaves are excellent. Kind of a milky splash with really outstanding post shave qualities.
3. Midnight & Two - Another excellent aftershave. In between a splash and a balm. Definitely more liquid and excellent post shave qualities.
4. Sudsy Soapery - This one is an excellent post shave as well and comes in balms and splashes. Some of the very best post shave I've encountered in a splash.
5. Neutrogena Post Shave lotion - Really like this one as it contains an SPF, very subtle scent that doesn't interfere with any cologne I might want to wear and it can be had at the local Walmart or Pharmacy for around six bucks. Not as good as a performer as the others but definitely a must have due to the sun protection. To me this is the best of the drug store balms.

Speick seems to give me the best post shave feel.

Aqua velva ice blue seems to be getting the most use.

Skin bracer by mennen gets the 2nd most use.

La Toja really good performer and unique scent.

Fine L'orange noir really like this scent since I'm a fan of TdH. Longest lasting scent as well.

I don’t know why the L’Occtaine balm doesn’t get more love. It is magic stuff.

2. Speick Lotion - Great Clean feel and scent

3. B&M Reserve Classic - Great Bright scent and fantistac skin food

4. Proraso Red -

5. Stirling - Sharp Dressed Man

I absolutely agree. This stuff is almost magical.
