What's new

Took a chance on Clubman Classic Vanilla.

I'm currently having a great time trying out various aftershaves and decided to take a chance on a bottle of Clubman Classic Vanilla when I was placing an order with Amazon. It was a slightly risky move since I'm not a big fan of the regular Clubman Pinaud AS (based on a sample size), but based on some reviews from the forum, it seemed like something I would like...and boy am I glad I took the chance!

I much prefer the Classic Vanilla scent over the original, and really like the sweetness of the vanilla, though I think this is the component that's not for everyone. In the end, this one will be staying in the rotation, especially as temperatures cool off for the Fall months!

Does anyone else out there prefer the Clubman Classic Vanilla over the original?

I have it also and Love it! Nothing like vanilla, and it's nothing like the original....but it's great

I love clubman, I hope to get some different ones but I can't get it in my country and they can't ship it internationally, need to send some money to a member here and send me some and write toiletries on the customs form :(

I have had a bottle "saved for latter" in my Amazon cart for quite a while now. I love vanilla, but know there is none in there. Still I have a morbid curiosity about this one.

Yeah, I like it. I love it actually. I thought I hit the jackpot when I found the original at Walgreens. I figured I would try the Vanilla.
It was a great discovery, I like it better than the original.

I may like it better than the Clubman. I like it at least as well, let's put it that way.

I used Clubman, and NOTHING else for about 30 years before joining B&B. I mean daily, the same stuff every day. After getting here I started to collect stuff I used to use in high school and college, now my shelf contains Clubman, Old Spice, English Leather, Brut, Aqua Velva, and Mennen Skin Bracer, and of course THE VEG! About a year ago I discovered the Pinaud Classic Vanilla and went bonkers with it. I am about to the end of the bottle and my Clubman barely has a dent in it.

But then I tend to go nuts with a new love, I did the same with Lilac Vegetal. Now that the newness has worn off, I'm back to rotating through the collection pretty evenly. Long story to say I like the Classic Vanilla almost as much as Clubman. I can say the same for The Veg, the Pinaud products are my favorites, followed, in order, by Aqua Velva, Brut, Mennen Skin Bracer, Old Spice, then English Leather.

I like it better than regular Clubman, but the vanilla tone it has isn't my thing. I prefer a more sweet vanilla that is smooth and is considered more feminine. I haven't found a Clubman I like yet other than VIBR.

I like classic vanilla but I like regular clubman and the veg too. The only pinaud I didn't get along with was the special reserve.

The Vanilla definitely sounds like something I'd like to try. Too bad you can't buy smaller bottles or even smell the scent in a store (if you could find it in a store) since the cap is sealed.

I'm always cautious about buying AS that I may or may not like because then you're stuck with an entire bottle you may never use. Oh well, there's always a PIF or B/S/T I suppose :biggrin1:

I just posted in another thread about the samples I just got from Garry's. I purchased twelve 1/4 oz samples, so a total of 3 oz (nearly a full bottle) for $32. Now I get to try many for the price of one full bottle. He didn't have the vanilla when I purchased, but from the Pinaud line, I got Citrus Musk, VIBR, Special Reserve, and the mighty VEG (currently decanting in a glass bottle and 'aging' before first use!). Also got Alt Innsbruck, DRH Sandalwood, DRH Windsor, Floid, Speick, Proraso, Tabac, and Captain's Choice Bay Rum. I'm real glad I went this route rather than a blind purchase.

Does this scent make you smell like a cookie? I know that vanilla scent can sometimes be a bit sweet and cloying but I'm probably thinking more of baking and scented candles but I don't recall ever having smelled in an aftershave. Is the vanilla scented aftershave different?

No, it actually smells nothing like vanilla. It is a great after shave, but the scent is a little hard to describe. Maybe a spicier version of the original...

I found a bottle of it at a beauty store last week and took a chance on it. This stuff is awesome! SWMBO usually isnt a fan of classic scents (doesnt care for clubman, doesnt like the veg at all, loves scents like curve, kilo, nivea replenishing ASB), but she does like this stuff.

Great to see all this love for the Vanilla! I think the scent is a bit difficult to describe as a lot of members have already mentioned, but it did remind me a bit of the vanilla I detected in the Jean Paul Gaultier cologne, which is NOT the same as the vanilla one would associate with baking/food.

I've tried Bay Rhum, "normal" clubman, The Veg and Classic Vanilla. Its is by far my favorite one! It's more of a floral vanilla than cupcake vanilla.
