What's new

Too bad I missed this auction!

Also too bad I missed hitting the lottery so I could afford them! :biggrin1:

I was snooping around a Pennsylvania antique shop and auction facility with SWMBO and SWMBO's girlfriend yesterday, but not finding much of interest. Just as we were about to leave, I walked down an aisle where they were holding items that were sold at previous auctions but hadn't yet been picked up.

My eyes lit up when I saw these three items...they also lit up when I saw how much they sold for! :w00t:

Gem Razor Blades Counter Display (Sold for $3,162.50)

Ever-Ready Razor Store Counter Display (Sold for $5,462.50)

And last but not least...
Ever-Ready Brushes Store Counter Display (Sold for $5,750.00)

Oh well. we can dream...

That is some nice display cases.. Shame about the prices though! But they would look awesome in someones shave den :thumbup1:

Who is buying these things for so much? A wealthy private collector?!?!:confused1
I think you can be pretty well guaranteed that it's all going to a private collector...and wealthy is a given, considering the final prices (and don't forget the 17% "Buyer's Premium" on top of the final bid.)

The pity is that stuff will probably never see the light of day again...and all those lovely brushes, blades, etc. will never be used for their intended purposes. It's pretty clear, that in this case, the combined value of the collections is much more than the individual items sold separately.
