TOBS soap vs cream

I am putting together my first big order of some shaving soaps and creams. The Proraso Red and MWF are definates. Trying to decide between some TOBS soaps or creams of the same scent. Am I getting more shaves of the same quality lather for my buck with the soaps?

I prefer shaving with soap rather than cream and I believe that the lather produced from soap is better for shaving. TOBS soaps and creams are both good quality- why not choose one of each and test them out?

My preference has always been creams although I am getting into soaps more.

I have 3 ToOBS creams and love them all. They produce an awesome lather and smell great. Being a cream you don't need much to work a nice lather.

I have not tried ToOBS soap yet. Have to use all my other ones first.

I have TOBS Sandalwood creme already. I was looking at the Jermyn Street shaving soap or cream. I am just trying to see what will last longer and if the benefical ingredient are the same.

I like the TOBS avocado shave cream, but prefer the lavender soap. If you can get your hands on the pre-reformulation version in the wooden bowl, it's a good performer with a nice scent.

As for the same benefital ingredients, I haven't a clue as I'm not one to bother with such details. I'll judge a product based on performance and results, and both Taylors soaps and creams are first class.

As for longevity, soaps tend to last longer than creams.

I have eight of the TOBS creams and find them to be top performers with very excellent scents. I currently have the TOBS lavender soap and the St. James and Sandalwood shave sticks. They all are excellent performers and in my view the shave sticks are some of the best on the market. The TOBS lavender soap is one that will always be in my den and when I use up some of my current supply of soaps I will replace the TOBS sandalwood. I agree with David, why not try one of each.

Regards,

Doug

TOBS hard shaving soaps lather and perform about as well as any soap I have tried, including MWF and DR Harris soaps. Not sure why their soaps don't get much mention on here but I'm now a big fan.
