TOBS skin care issues

I ordered TOBS jermyn street shaving cream which came in the mail today. Yea! Lets get to the good about this shaving cream.

1. Lathers like a dream. Nice, thick, rich lather.
2. Didn't need to use too much water.
3. lather did not dry out after 3 passes.
4. scent isn't too strong
Some questions.

After the third pass, my face felt somewhat dry. The scent is interesting but my face never was dry when using Tabac, queen charlotte etc. Why is this shaving cream making my skin somewhat dry feeling?

Have you had any experiences like this? what to do to alleviate the dry feeling?
Thanks.

TOBS takes more water than I usually think. Try a test lather or two so you can get a feel for how thirsty the cream is. Great choice by the way. Jermyn St is hard for me to describe but the scent is amazing.

Not sure how much it matters but I also face lather. That may help my skin from drying out. When I rinse between passes I let the water stay on my face.

I got excellent lather with little water. It doesn't need that much to get stiff peaks. For me the scent is okay, but I have seen better. I put water on my face after each pass but after the third pass, the drying begins. I am returning it. Maybe the TOBS avocado will be better.

I notice that others have been having the same problems as I have with TOBS jermyn street. Am I not mistaken?

IMHO stiff peaks are secondary to a lather that remains hydrated and offers superior glide and protection. I end up with softer peaks but the lather never dries out and my face never pulls or gets clingy. The creation of lather is highly YMMV but I've always found TOBS to be a thirsty product.

Used to have fun with Commander Yellow Pantyhose

I agree with this. Good lather and good shaving lather aren't necessarily the same things. I traded my Jermyn St cream for the soap--I prefer the lather from the soap and don't have any more shaves with lather that looks good but dries me out because I didn't add enough water.
