TOBS Jermyn Street - Failure

I had a weird thing happening. I am using a puck of Jermyn Street in my rotation for a year with about a third used so far. The soap always made great lather and it has been one of my favorites. Suddenly without any obvious reason the product fails. Lather does not create well or falls apart in seconds. No change in routine, or brush or water. Looks no different than before. I thought soaps don't go bad???

Maybe you should send it to me- I can lather modern Williams  Seriously, I have never heard of soaps stop lathering mid puck, so I cannot offer much insight.

Okay, my synapse fired off. How regularly do you use it? I have heard (but not experienced) that if a soap goes several weeks without use it could develop a "skin" and be a little harder to lather the first few times. Have you tried the "hot water on top of the puck for a few minutes" trick?

Now half as wise
Owen may have hit the nail on the head!:biggrin1: After I started participating in the 3017 thread, I noticed that my soap became easier to lather after a few days, and I no longer needed to put hot water on it first.

I noticed this when I first got Arlington. After about five uses I stopped putting water on top because it wasn't needed. I shave with it at least once a week, so I don't have first hand knowledge about a skin redeveloping.

I think you need to try it with a 2-band brush! :taz:

I donated it... Together with the Casswell & Massey (or so...)...

Then I grated a Speick shave stick into the bowl... And wow... that even rivals my Tabac :))
