TOBS cream critique

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
I've been using my TOBS samples trying toget a feel for the ones I like. All of them perform well so I will be refering to dcrnt wise. The all seem s little light on the scent . Hands down Jermyn St. has won me over. Eton College has a nice a nice soft powdery after smell and lemon lime has a nice soft fresh scent. I haven't tried the almond yet and the Mr. Taylor smells like T&H Grafton. The shavve shop didn't habe much of s smell at all ti me.

They just came out with Grapefruit. It is amazing! I also enjoy Mr. Taylor. At the end of the day, TOBS makes several great scents that are wonderful performers.

I have several TOBS creams and love them all. Great scents and super performance. They are my go to creams.

i have tried a few and im sure that sandlewood performs slightly better... its the best selling one so that says something!

Jermyn Street rocks! I think the smell goes well with Sandalwood ASB or Skin Food which I love too... its my go to combo at the moment!

I like TOBS Avocado. The only flaw with their creams is all of them flake and dry out during longer shaves. My shaves last 20 minutes. I like to take my time. :001_smile

I just picked up a 10 TOBS cream sampler and was wondering if you all feel that they perform about the same and the real difference is the scent, or if there are noticeable differences between the flavors. I am am new to wet shaving and know that my technique is probably not where it really needs to be to evaluate small performance differences between the flavors of a brand.

I picked it up from Maggards Razors based in Adrian MI. The containers are small, but quite full.

I noticed this as well - at least with the Sandalwood.

One day I had just lathered up and the phone rang with an important phone call I was expecting. I talked on the phone for maybe 7-8ish minutes. It was not a long call. When I went back into the bathroom I noticed a bunch of particles floating in the air. I looked at my face and the cream had dried out and looked like cracked desert earth. It was so dry the little particles were floating everywhere.

I was completely shocked, not just at how quickly the cream dried out, but moreso the sheer extent of the dryness. I have no idea why/how this would happen.

If your ToBS creams start drying out, they can be re-moistened with some water and a few swirls. It happens to me occasionally as well - DE shaver here when I either dawdle or, since I grab a cream when I'm in a hurry, don't get enough water into it in the first place. ToBS creams have a pretty good range for cream:water tolerance. I've never noticed them flasking out on my face. I'll have to try that tomorrow...

I love the avocado and I don't have this drying problem as I face lather, with a sink of water within reach :001_smile
