Timex Ironman -vs- Casio G-Shock

I've been wearing a Timex Ironman Shock Resistant watch for several years but I've been thinking about getting a G-Shock. Anyone have any thoughts on comparing these two watches?

Normally G-Shocks have a good rep but that has not been the case for me. The last 2 I had lasted less than 6 months. Not sure what the issue is between the G-shocks and me is? The Ironman has lasted me through this deployment quite well. I prefer Casio but Timex has made a customer out of me the next time I need a beater watch.

When looking for a rugged everyday work around the house/yard watch, I ended up with a G-Shock. I haven't had any problems with it, and coinsider it a solid purchase.

My wife has managed to kill 3 non shock Ironman watches training for, hold on, triathlons (albeit not ironman distances)...

I've never been able to kill a GShock - my DW6900 is 14 years old and still running.

Having said that, Timex has better modules and features overall if you're using it for training/running, and more alarms, etc...

If you don't need as many modes or functions I prefer the GShocks, and the solar/atomic models are fantastic.

My experience has been that G Shocks are nearly unbreakable. Maybe not the $25 ones you see in Costco, but the better models. No experience with Timex.

Timex hasn't let me down, been deployed to several places around the world and never let me down. Also use it as my primary alarm. Good luck making a decision.

Did you get your G-Shocks from a dealer you could assume was selling the real thing? It's a heavily counterfeited brand.

The band on my Ironman watch has broken twice in the past 4 or 5 years.

The Watch may take a lickin, but the band sure doesn't.

I've got two- one is the beater I wear to work and the other is the solar powered and atomic set. You just can't beat 'em.

I have a G-Shock GW-330A, solar atomic. I paid $95 for it years ago, and have worn it 24/7 since. I rarely take it off. It stays on while sleeping, showers, swimming, pounding nails, etc.. It still looks decent, too.

I wear a Rolex Datejust as my daily watch. I was interested in something less expensive and very durable for travel and activities. My wife got me a G-shock Giez for my birthday last week. I love the feel of it and appreciate the solar power and atomic clock synchronization. The Rolex has lasted 15 years and looks and performs like it is new. I'm hoping to get similar longevity from the Casio.

My first Ironman lasted seven years and seven bands.

I switched to the Expedition model and two lasted about 3 years each.

G-shocks, the better models, tend to run forever, but they're a bit chunky.

Either one will do you well.

I have good experienced in Casio G-Shock. Now i wear this. Timex Ironman and Casio G-Shock
are good feature and separated. The main difference is that G-Shocks are water resistant to 200m and most Timex are to 100m.
