Timeless Razors

Yep I've been waiting for that...in a perfect world, the adjustable they're working on will have a "blackbird" setting that replicates the gap and exposure of the BB, but that's probably not realistic.

Just ordered the OC plate in Ti...30 day trial is great.

Oh yeah, the trial is awesome. I didn't have access to it but anyhow the BB blew me away!

Shane at blackland said the adjustable is nothing like blackbird unfortunately.
Totally different architecture.

Makes sense they'd go in that direction, honestly. Between the Lite, SB, and OC, you kinda already have an "adjustable" BB!

I was curious about timeless for years!
Finally bit the bullet last year and got the 0.95mm in stainless steel.

Boy was it a let down!
I've never had such disappointment with a razor as I did with the T95!

It yielded too little efficiency for the level of aggression on the skin. I was baffled, switched from the super sharp BIC blade to the ultra smooth Wizamet, didn't improve things much.

I sold it off and never looked back!!

Other razors in that blade gap range which performed far, FAR better than the timeless:

ATT Windsor SSH1, Tatara Nodachi, Karve CB D plate, Yates H plate.
How would you compare the efficiency of the Nodachi vs the T95?

When I had my Ti95DC I found steep was much more effective than shallow...
Tend to agree. 3rd shave today and i went super shallow to compare to yesterday, where I went super steep. Shave was maybe marginally closer, but less comfortably XTG and honestly it felt more like i was "fighting" the razor. In particular, I got some irritation going XTG in the upper lip area, and i could really feel the blade on my skin in a more pronounced way than other locations. Will try a happy-medium next.

I found the nodachi to change slightly higher efficiency, but I can't say I enjoyed the shallow angle it requires.

Also, the blackbird is far superior to the nodachi.
Fair enough, the reason for the question around the Nodachi is I think I need an OC and the Blackbird OC is a bit too aggressive / the OC design is pretty harsh on the face compared to Timeless'

Likes a fat handle in his hand

Some OC razors can be too aggressive. Which is why its better to use a mild OC razor, that can be made a little more aggressive, by a simple twist of the handle.

I suggest trying out one of the twist adjustables from PAA. I have the PAA Copper Ascension Twist in Rose Gold, and I freaking love it! Super mild when handle snug tight. Loosen the handle by 1/8 - 1/4 turn out, suddenly becomes low to medium aggression.

1/2 turn out maximum safe loosen position, becomes aggressive indeed. The razor can do this due to the head design, being arched, acting as a spring tension mechanism on the blade. I highly recommend this razor!

Perhaps a karve open comb would be a better option.
I dislike open combs but I found the karve pretty smooth (had D and E open comb).

I just invested heavily in Timeless. I picked up the Brass, Aluminium (Aluminum depending on what dictionary you use) and the Titanium with .65 and .95 plates.

So far I've used each razor and head once and haven't had a bad shave yet. The Titanium is the most comfortable with the .95 head giving the closest shave whilst not feeling too different from the .65.

I'm pretty sure the Timeless has taken the top spot in my shave den over my full kit of ATT stuff. Sadly my RAD isn't quite satiated yet though.
and the RAD just isn't satiated yet. And somebody just posted at Stainless 95 on eBay and I've got another incoming.

I also found the BBOC a little on the aggressive side as well so now it only gets used on 3+ days of growth and usually for the 1st pass WTG only... I am guessing the Lite version in an OC might be a big seller for Shane if he ever gets around to it.

Think one thing Timeless has is 30 return policy.

Wish they would do Crown handle in SS & Bronze.
The crown handle was one of the deciding factors for me pulling the trigger on a Timeless TI 0.68 OC/SB as my first real razor instead of a Henson... it's the best looking handle I've seen! If it only came in anodized purple like the Blackbird :o16:

I'm still wondering if I should get a Henson to work on my technique and grow into the Timeless over though, as my first few shaves have been a little burn-y:confused1

Why would you not using your Timeless to learn technique? This learning thing works best with item your learning, not something else.

My first shaving experience was learning buy doing, learning more on second try, we had not social media, forum, or email to send for help.

Yes there was bloodshed, and then you got you act together, not axing the place you shave with face full of toilet paper.

My Generation did not get Participation Trophies, or as my buddy Fat Fred tell he tried out for
Basketball, did not make team. Coach said I see you love basketball, but you need to drop 60 pounds FAT BOIT. Friend did, dropped 70, made tear, and got Basketball Free Ride to basketball Scholarship.

Ok - first two pass shave with the BBOC and honestly--it was pretty darn smooth. I'm intrigued.

The thing is if you new to most things in life you will not go from novice to expert overnight. Most things take time, effort, and doing task many times to be good at. Shaving with DE is one of the thing that take time to master for most people.

Recall years ago working in hospital were drawing arterial blood was part of job. You have to do 10 good sticks on first attempt to be certified. Certified meant medical director had confidence to turn you loose on own, and on patients.

Some people were really good at tasks, other took could of toys to get blood even after they were certified.

The difference for me with the blackbird Ti vs the timeless Ti 95 is Im using a lot less pressure compared to the bb.

I will never forget this dude that drew my blood. He was bouncing up and down on his stool when I walked up and sat down. I was thinking what the hell is wrong with this guy! Bouncing around when he tied my arm, bouncing when he gathered his supplies, bouncing around when he stuck the needle in my arm! To my surprise he got it in one shot, I was ready to punch him. But that was the smoothest non painful draw I’ve ever had.

I am new to wet shaving and have been asking others on this board for suggestions and help and have been very pleasantly surprised by the response. My question on this thread and, I guess, in general, is that with all the comments about changing plates for a shave to achieve greater aggression or lesser aggression, why wouldn't you just buy a top of the line adjustable? I am sure this is a stupid question to some, but I really am curious why?
