The improvement I noted using the Kai AC blades (versus the Feather blades previously used) in the RazoRock Hawk V2 has prompted me to do a current comparison between my various favored SE razors, type notwithstanding.

Oops.....noticed that the GEM Junior did not get in the picture. :)

I am sure that I will be adding more wonderful SE razors as we go. :)

So......here we go. :)

Started with the RazoRock Hawk V2:

Shave 20200409
20200409_092836~2.jpg

Prep: Splashed water on face
Pre-shave: n/a
Brush: Rudy Vey B&B Contributors Tulip Handle, Boss v1 Synthetic Knot
Soap: Haslinger Schafmilch
Bowl: n/a (face lathered)
Razor: RazoRock Hawk V2, RR Ti Halo Handle
Blade: Kai Captain Titan Protouch w/Guard
Post-shave: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave Splash: Clubman Osage Rub
Aftershave: Clubman Draggon

WTG, ATG & XTG. Minor touch-up.

DFS++ (very near BBS - without trying). No weepers, nicks, cuts or irritation. Gorgeous, comfortable shave! Everything felt wonderful, start to finish. :)

Changing blades in the RR Hawk V2 to the Kai Captain Titan Protouch w/Guard has been a revelation. HUGE difference using the Kai as opposed to the Feather blades I previously used.

Definitely elevates the AC-based razor shaving experience (for me, at least).

On Deck for tomorrow: ATT SE1, RazoRock Ti Halo using the same Kai Captain Titan Protouch w/Guard blade.

Please comment with your experiences with any/all of these razors as I review each one - agree or disagree. ;)

Just my opinion and YMMV :)

I exclusively use Schick Proline with AC razors including Razorock Hawk. All of the guarded blade felt a bit tuggy to me. Feather Professional is good but not smooth as Proline. Never tried Feather Professional Super.

This was my first shave with a Kai Pro-Guard. It was most impressive.

We'll see how the Kai mates up tomorrow with the ATT SE1. :)

I don't think I see one well established, recognizable and long time contender in SE - Colonial General. But at the same time, my eye vision is not what it used to be. :)

Appreciate the heads up on the Colonial General. This is certainly not meant to be an all encompassing comparison - just the razors I have in residence. :)

However, as I am always on the lookout for new and wonderful razors, please help me out by contributing your thoughts (with pics, please ;)) regarding the Colonial General. :)

Next contender, the ATT SE-1 with a TiBam Handle. :)

Shave 20200410

Continuing my 2020 Resolution to stop chasing BBS!
shave-edited 20200410.jpg

Prep: Splashed water on face
Pre-shave: n/a
Brush: @Graydog Chubby, 26mm Full Moon
Soap: Haslinger Schafmilch
Bowl: n/a (face lathered)
Razor: ATT SE-1, TiBam Handle
Blade: Kai Captain Titan Protouch w/Guard (2)
Post-shave: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave Splash: Clubman Osage Rub
Cologne: Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve

WTG, XTG & ATG. Minor touch-up.

DFS++ (very near BBS - without trying). No weepers, nicks, cuts or irritation. Just like yesterday's shave: Gorgeous, comfortable, everything felt wonderful, start to finish. :)

As with the RR Hawk V2, changing blades to the Kai Captain Titan Protouch w/Guard made a very positive difference in my perception of the ATT SE-1. I definitely prefer the Kai over the Feather blades I previously used.

With the Feather blade, I preferred the RR Hawk V2 to the ATT SE-1. With the Kai, things are a lot closer - maybe even a slight nod to the ATT SE-1. Both really good razors!

The Kai Captain Titan Protouch w/Guard definitely elevates the AC-based razor shaving experience (for me, at least).

This combination of hardware and software worked really well together!

Tomorrow's razor: the Occam's Razor with the 3-dot (most aggressive) cap.

YMMV

Stepping into The Ring, the Occam's Razor (3-dot cap).....

Shave 20200411
20200411_160652~2.jpg

Prep: Splashed water on face
Pre-shave: n/a
Brush: Zenith S10 26mm Synthetic
Soap: Haslinger Schafmilch
Bowl: n/a (face lathered)
Razor: Occam's Razor (3-dot cap)
Blade: Kai Captain Titan Protouch w/Guard (3)
Post-shave: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave Splash: Aqua Velva Ice Sport
Cologne: Aqua Velva Musk

WTG, XTG & ATG. Minor touch-up.

DFS with no weepers, nicks, cuts or irritation. Comfortable shave.

The Occam's Razor, even with the 3-dot cap, is not as efficient as the RR Hawk V2 or the ATT SE-1 (I may have to try it with a Feather blade ;)). In addition, it does not feel as nimble around my nose and chin.

It's a good razor, my preference just leans to the Hawk and SE-1.

Overall, though, this combination of hardware and software did work well together.

Just my opinion and YMMV. :)

Thanks for the detailed comparison.I've been enjoying your review so far.

My preference among AC razors with Proline blade is like the following order.

Colonial General V2
Colonial General V1
tied O.R.E.N
tied Hiram Commander
Razorock Hawk V2
ATT SE1

In that order, ATT SE1 is the least enjoyable razor for me but it's not to say that it is a bad one. All of AC razors I've tried were great razors. I just prefer other AC razors to ATT SE1 by a tiny margin.

The way you guys rave about the Colonial General V2, I may need to round one up and try it. ;)
